From corovin - nose was a little closed still, perhaps would have benefited from a decant, but the palate was lovely, with fresh red and blue fruits, silky texture and a freshness and slightly hedgerow/mint element that makes me think perhaps some whole bunch used? Young for its age, but ready to go, this was classic Volnay and very pretty. Would have scored higher if the nose had been singing, but likely that’s more my fault in the lack of decanting rather than the wine.

Dinner at Richard's: 6/12, vg cork. Sligghtly closed and then inscrutable on the nose at first, some ripe dark fruit but also soil, coffee, a touch stern. Slowly setting to reveal some more aromatic, floral top-notes. Delicious on the palate from the off however, elegant, with red and black-toned fruits, held together by a vein of firm but fine tannins, certainly an intellectual wine but at the same time hugely enjoyable, with lovely lift and freshness on the extended finish. Excellent, and still very youthful.

No formal note. This quite expressive on the nose with spice, a touch of mineral, soil. Some underlying red fruit. Medium bodied, red fruit, dusty earth, fine tannins, fresh acidity.

Opened last night. Color is a medium ruby with some slight browning. Still has legs. Nose has some nice fruit, with hints of strawberry, cherry and minerals. Nothing out of place. Drinking quite nicely. There's plenty of fruit, especially up front, though it toughens a bit and finishes rather dryly. Still retains plenty of freshness, but time to drink up. My experience with the wines of this producer in this vintage have been somewhat disappointing, with the wines tending to be hard and muscular with little charm. 4-11-15-8: 88/100.

tasted at the Domaine with Etienne. Decanted for 1 hour. Black fruits and cherries on the nose, very smooth and complex on the palette. Everything has integrated and is in harmony. Peaking now. ****=

I agree wholeheartedly with Paul D.... The underlying game is there, but it's wound tight and closed for business right now. Drink another 2-3 summers from now.

Discreet nose, some red fruit, chalky mineral, just a hint of game, florals emerging with time in glass. Medium bodied, sweet red fruits, still a little tight on the mid-palate, slightly savoury red fruits, chalky mineral, shows generosity and length and one can sense the underlying potential but seems to have closed down a touch. Next bottle 2016.

Really dark colour. Very intense nose of earth and minerals, masking rich black cherry and strawberry fruit. Quite full mid-palate that is also earthy, and a finish with quite marked dusty tannins and a long finish. Rich and full and very good indeed but a bit austere on first showing. Worked well with steak, and a lovely strawberry-flavoured delicacy came through more with time in the decanter. Very promising: wait a year or two before opening the next one.

Medium ruby core, pale ruby rim. Lovely Volnay nose with strawberry fruit, floral notes, hints of vanilla and soil. Palate is medium bodied with more red fruit and florals, it shows decent depth and seems to have put on some weight/density in the last 18 months or so. However the tannins, whilst very fine, are still a touch firm on the very good length finish and so whilst certainly approachable now this still should improve with more time. Excellent Volnay.

Great intensity with rich, concentrated and powerful layers of complexity and great length. Drinking great now, but clearly still early in its evolvement. Great value

Decanted 1 1/2 hours. Medium ruby core, medium pale ruby rim. Lovely, fragrant red fruit (strawberry) nose, floral notes, hint of chalky minerals. Medium bodied on the palate, delicate and airy rather than lean with moderate, very fine tannin and fresh acidity. Fresh strawberry and red cherry fruit on the mid-palate, and a lingering, fruity finish witjh a slight chalky mineral note. Very Volnay, certainly approachable although perhaps could do with a little more weight, which it may put on with more time in bottle (in which case my score could well be on the conservative side).

Wines for the Acker Merrall Bicentennial Auction (The Pool - New York NY): Small glass, brief note. Magnum from Domaine. Wonderful elegant and textures with so many nooks and crannies. Delicious now and good weight.
