  • {screwcap, 14.5%} inky black. Partly developed aromas of prune and raisin, dark chocolate and a distinct vintage port character. The palate presents as a big mouthful of stewed blackberries, dark plums, bitter chocolate, vanilla tinged oak and alcoholic warmth. Not too oaky, it’s full-bodied and a bit fumey, with medium powdery tannins, low acidity and a savoury dry character which leaves a bit of a mid-palate hole. The finish fades rather quickly, just leaving trace elements of the alcohol. Odd. Disappointing in the sense I was expected something a bit more interesting. Can be kept; time won’t hurt this, although it mightn’t help much either.

  • Earthy rich red dense fruits with smoky undertones. Full-bodied and long finish satisfying finish. Powerful but still somewhat balanced with acidity, fine tannins and mouthfeel. Great expression of a well made Barossa Shiraz. Good QPR.
