Paired with salmon cake and mixed salad. Dark crimson-purple color with a violet hue. Muted nose brings red lavender, potpourri, and cherry menthol. The palate is medium, round, and jammy, bringing a nice core of dark fruit interlaced with high-toned cherry and raspberry notes, which leads into a tannic finish of cloves and black tea. This has a good frame and thick tannins which bodes well for further aging. However, right now this doesn't taste 'fresh' to me as the jammy fruit is distracting and bogs the palate down. I also detect some heat on the tail from higher alcohol (14.5%). Drink 2026-2034. Technical score: 90. Enjoyment score: 90.

This was a very nice pinot indeed, not overextracted as some other wines from the 2018 vintage. rather dark fruit. There is some potential fpr development.

The notes below describe it well. Yes, there is a pleasant chalky aspect. Very enjoyable over three nights — and sorry we don’t have more to see how it develops.
Drank this wine 2-3 hours after decanting (give it at least 2.5 hours). The color is a deep ruby red. The nose has black cherries, plums, currants, some faint floral notes, with some very faint earthy tones that will surface in time. The palate has black cherries, pomegranate, a note of apple and savory spice. The body is medium++. There is a good backbone of acid with tannins that support the flavors, but don’t intrude. All wrapped around a long finish. This wine will improve over many more years. Today it is luscious, but I look forward to seeing what emerges as the fruit recedes. Alcohol 14.5%.
N.B. Last night’s review was based on opening the bottle and pouring half into a carafe, then closing the bottle with a stopper. Tonight I finished the wine. It is almost as good as it was last night. A slight bit of oxidation detected, very slight degradation of the fruit aromas and flavors, and a bit more tannic. But quite good. Last night paired with King Salmon en papillote with cherry tomatoes and asparagus; tonight rib eye steak with sauce Bordelaise (rather Chalonnaise since I made it with some of the wine), roasted potatoes and Brussels sprouts. A tad hearty for the Salmon, but was fine, and stood well with the steak.

Opened 2 hours. Color is fairly dark ruby red for a Burgundy. ON the nose: Cherry, vanilla and some strawberry. On the palate: Dr. Pepper, cherry, vanilla and spice. Very easy to drink.

From memory. This was enjoyable, but I found it a little warm with darker riper fruits notes for my tastes.

Ripe but has potential. Lots of wood / vanilla. A bit astringent. Mellowed with air. Will likely improve with 2-3 years.
