  • I preferred the MSD 18 to this as I felt that was more classically Dujac. Here I got a lot of structure and seriousness which doesn’t quite reflect my idea of the terroir, but again, Dujac DNA usually stand out more than what is classic about the appellation for me. The nose though was pretty wild and lifted, and we have guesses of Prieur Roch across the table.

  • Sappy red cherry and blackberry, wet soil, sous bois, spice, silky tanning. Still balanced despite the warm vintage. Excellent village wine

  • Medium nose intensity with notes of black and red fruits, flora. Still youthful. Nose is alittle closed. Will need decanting to bring out the nose. Body is full and finish is long.

The reference wine was important in that it showed the crowd how an uncomplicated PN from Burgundy behaves. The Punt Road also contributed by being fruit forward and slightly warmer than the rest. New world in a nice way.

This CM developed during the course of the evening. Initially a little tart and closed - cranberries. Opened up to strawberries and some depth but overall not overly complex. Balance is nice and very likable wine.

  • BYOB, all wines tasted fully blind.

Pale, ruby color with some violet at the rim.

Youthful, tightly knit nose with some dark cherry and plum coming through. A touch of violets, moist soil and oak spice. This remained rather closed during the tasting and was hard to wrap my head around.

Medium bodied, fine-grained tannins and medium(+) acidity. Quite powerful and concentrated and it feels like there is quite a lot of unreleased potential here. A bit of warmth from the alcohol on the finish made me think of a warmer climate.

This wine was popped and poured and reading other notes on this wine some decanting would probably have been beneficial. This need much more time to come together and open up fully.

  • Dark and purple fruit with its signature spice and violets. The wine has opened up beautifully after an hour of air. The vintage ripeness has added weight to this village beauty. If you prefer more power, Dujac’s 2018 Chambolle can be more appealing than the feminine 2017.

  • Amazing juice. Mossy, loamy, leather, stewed red fruit, and silky tannins. Acidity picked up considerably over the course of three hours. Fantastic

  • Nydelig nese. Rik og silkeaktig frukt med noe stilkete innslag. Virker som en varm årgang. Ganske så kraftig. Pen friskhet, men er først og fremst tett, heftig og sødmefull. Skikkelig kraftig stil. Tror den vil bli ypperlig med tid.

  • I usually never open Dujac this early, but I have a few more of these and, well, I couldn’t resist. Decanted 3 hours before Christmas Eve dinner. Dark and dense. Tight even after the decant, but the underlying complexity is definitely there, highly structured and layered. This is a very powerful village wine, definitely the best Chambolle I have had, and of premier cru quality. The signature stems are front and center, balance is impeccable. Needs another 5 years at least.

  • A very fine bottle of straight Chambolle.
Up on opening - a floral and airy nose, strawberries, some wild and gamey scents, spices, touch of smoke, and darker fruit beneath.
Palate with cranberries, lingonberries, sour cherries and some rhubarb.
Darker ripe fruits hiding in a denser layer beneath, along with some oak notes.
Rather tight and unborn at this stage, lots of dense fruit and lot's material waiting to be unleashed.
Very good and showing good potential for a bright future.
Hard to fully asses tonight, but power and material along with balance of acidity clearly present.
    Needs more time.

  • Lovely balance but a little closed. Silky and deceivingly low key yet long.

  • Popped & poured, dark red, stunning beautiful nose of ripe cherries & plum, loam, spices, pure silk in the mouth, refined, excellent depth, very accessible, would beat most premier crus, best Dujac Chambolle I’ve drunk

  • A ripe nose of dark cherry fruit, tinged by floral spice. It has a note of sandalwood too. It is fleshy, with a silky feel against the gums. There's plenty of weight here for its level and cherry stone coolness on the expansive finish.

  • A beauty. When this wine has a good year it's easily 1er cru quality and I like it better than the Morey. Haven't had the Morey this year yet but this is about as good as the Chambolle's ever been. Bright hue bordering on magenta but the fruit is deeper and more developed, slightly plummy with a texture of pure Chambolle lace. The wood is a bit raw but shouldn't need long to absorb.
