Deep purple-garnet color, bouquet has the Syrah grape strongly, flavor fills the mouth roundly front to back with a very light amount of tannin - strong flavor of the Syrah grape. A good drink featuring the grape

Deep ruby in colour with aromas of sweet black fruit, blackberry, cured meat, oak & earth. On the palate, full bodied black fruit, blackberry, blueberry, oak/vanilla, at least medium acidity & medium to high soft tannins. The finish is long to spice & black pepper. This is a well crafted wine for an entry level Syrah & is successfully not over oaked like some Lodi wines can be.

Second day is even better! It has a bright acidity on the first day that cuts through food but on the second day that calms down and a sweet black cherry fruit emerges.

Wow! A really substantial wine for under $20 I have to keep looking back at the price tag. Nice fruit-forward without being sweet full body, more like a Aussies Shiraz without the sickly sweetness. Has the body and fruit but in perfect balance. Great length on the finish.

I’m impressed. Incredibly smooth drinking Syrah with supple tannins and a silky mouthfeel. Nose of blackberry, blueberry and pencil shavings. On the palate, blueberry, blackberry, starchy banana and vanilla creme. Medium acidity and a long vibrant finish.

We have learned once again that the meal really matters with this wine. Had this with beef short ribs, and wow was it amazing. So much spice, cinnamon and dark fruit. Really like this wine.

Well, this was a disappointment. I had read about most/much of the syrah in Lodi being pulled up after over-planting 20-30 years ago. But I wanted to try one. I saw this has a 92 rating on WE and the CT scores here were mixed but netted out ok.
This was a fruit bomb + over-oaked + had heat. Just a clunky mess on night one even after being open/out for 2 hours. Over-the-top dark berries are there for sure and hard to miss. But so was this synthetic feeling and tasting element. I had a headache after the glass I pushed through.
Thinking it maybe would improve the next day, but...
Nope. It was undrinkable on day 2. I can't recall the last time I poured wine down the drain from my glass. I'll see if we have an opportunity to cook with what's left in the bottle over the next few days but will hesitate even then if the opportunity arises.
I don't enjoy being negative and especially not because I know someone/many people put a lot into making this wine but I feel compelled to share, given the reviews I referenced.

Little heat on the nose, but it doesn’t show up on the palate. Blackberry and blueberry fruit. Fruit is rich, but not overdone. Pepper spice, backed by medium tannins. Great QPR at $16. WE 92 & WS 90. Will split the difference.

It really amazes me how people can taste the same wine and have such different experiences. I guess that’s what makes life so interesting! Well, we throughly enjoy this wine and think it is one of the best values we have come across in years. So damn peppery and fruit forward. We can drink this all by itself it is so good (with some chocolate of course). We highly recommend this one!

We have liked it in some previous vintages, but this one was tart and acidic despite 40 minutes of air. Decided it wasn't worth struggling and poured it out.

Rich Purply color, plumy bouquet, flavor is a combination of the grape and oak (oak is not overwhelming but definitely present)
