  • Excellent classic Barolo.

    If you like the real-deal, then you'll really love this, as this is presented with classic Nebbiolo from these hills.

    This botting did not close down after opening, but was fantastic from the start with plenty of earthen cherries and tars.
    The initial decant blew up such great aromas with hardly any sediment.

    I came back to it 7 hours later expecting to have it closed down, but it held fantastic nose of spices, cherries, tart and earth.

    Palate was exquisite with length of stars, lush and full with dusty tannins of elegance. Roses and tars all the way. Just a classic example of what Barolo delivers.
    There's such energy and grip that no doubt this will age very well and show well at 20.

    There's zest of lemon, tart of young berry, grip of tannic clout, juice ready to party but is quite young that would be happy to come out in 2036.

    Marcarini is the bargain quality of DOCG.

  • Tawny burnt orange in appearance. Discreet aromas of dried rose petals, leather, black tea and tobacco leaf. Pert acidity, volatile and dances over the palate; tannins are round, structured and well integrated. Somewhat austere with touches of alcohol / heat. Should go for a good while yet.

  • Light and airy wine. Would be good for the summertime as it’s light. Tart cherry and notes of berries. I had it in France in early April at a lovely Italian spot near my daughter’s apartment on the left bank.

  • Birthdays and Bolognese (My place, Portland OR): Nose: The nose is fresh and feminine with red cherries, strawberries, raspberries, licorice, roasted herbs, rose petals, a touch of leather, and tobacco notes. This is clearly a youthful nose, but there is a ton to like about it right now as it shows off all of the things I love about La Morra.

    Taste: The feel is Full bodied with tart, high acidity and silky, high tannins. The structure is sneaky as it is clearly youthful but the fruit is vibrant with tones of strawberries, red cherries, raspberries, licorice, roasted herbs, rose petals, leather, and some tobacco.

    Overall: This was decanted for most of the day and it needed it. There is a lot to like here and while it will deceptively drink now, it will certainly benefit from at least another 5+ years of aging.

  • Tasted at the Barolo and Barbaresco World Opening Tasting Event in NYC. Traditional style, fermented with inoculated, native yeast, 40 day maceration and aged in botte grande. This is a very perfumed and floral expression of Nebbiolo, with good structure, plenty of cherry and some strawberry fruit, some leathery notes in the mid-palate and some anise on the moderately long finish. With just a little more bright acidity I think this would be fantastic. Nonetheless very complex and delicious.
