Opened in the bottle for a few hours. Old school Napa style with an injection of ripe plum and cassis. Dense and structure. Dark chocolate, mineral, leather and raspberry liqueur. Drinking well now but still plenty of time.

Hundred Acre wine tasting: Hedonistic for any other category, but rather elegant for a Napa. Big red fruit, lots of cherry, the fruit is very precise, which is in this case what I mean with elegant. Clearly from a warm year though. Not as badly affected by the wildfires as other Bond wines, the smoke taint here is barely noticeable.

Reticent on the nose at the moment, the lush, opulent, silky palate is where the action is. Layers of black cherry and spicy red fruits with notes of fig and citrus along with earthy, wet forest notes all work together adding complexity. The tannins are ripe, but present, so you will want to wait at least 6-8 years before pulling a cork.

Very closed nose. Very similar palate to the ‘17 Quella served just earlier. Liquorice and plum. Tannic. Needs years.

Tasting: Great US cab without being over the top. Guessed a good vintage of Shafer Hillside Select.

Premiere Napa Valley; 2/22/2023-3/25/2023 (Napa, California): Premiere begins in Oakville PNV
Spicy dark fruit, big and powerful, graphite shavings, lively acids and tannins again. A little difficult to read right now.
