  • Energisk sak. Kirsebær, jordbær, plommer, svart stein, parfyme, Samme i miunnen, men enormt strukturert. Deilig struktur. Servert blindt. Med fasit i hånd er det helt utrolig hvordan denne klarer å sluke 15,5 %. Svært lang. 92

  • PnP, followed 2 days

Needed some air to flesh out, showing very ripe cherries, iron, crushed stone, black pepper and a slight alcohol note.

Full bodied, a lot of fine tannins, sharp acids and a fairly long finish. On the edge maturity-wise, but manages to land on the right side for me, at least.

I think this will reward cellaring, though not at all a waste to drink at this stage

  • Opened the remaining of the bottle after coravin a month ago. Suspect this bottle was flawed. Very green and herbal - almost a cucumber component on the nose(??). Not corked or undrinkable, but not the level it should be.

  • My expectations were mixed after reading reviews from CT.
Unfortunately, I was not pleased with this bottle. Don't get me wrong - it is a very decent Barolo, but nothing more.
Hot, green, out of balance. Did get better with air showing classical notes such as cherry and rose. However, it never really got me going.
    Tasted from Coravin.
Will time help this bottle? I am not sure but only time will tell.

  • Detta vin har vuxit rejält sen jag provade det sist. Forfarande otroligt fint koncentrerat och ganska tufft och vill inte släppa ifrån sig allt än men med lite tid så är detta ett riktigt fynd.

  • Very good - a distinctive blood orange note, concentration and weight on the palate with a little tertiary development. It's not one for long ageing but it's still a baby - check in around 2026 I reckon

  • Young Barolo Tasting (Birch Road Cellar - Chicago IL): Tasted blind in Barolo 2014-2018 flight, all opened 4 hours earlier and double decanted. Something was wrong here. Massively tannic and warm with a faint hint of volatile acidity.

  • TASTED AT WINE SPECTATOR GRAND TOUR IN MIAMI:

Honestly loved this Barolo it was my favorite along with Vietti! At the booth Ellen was delightful, intelligent and a joy to speak with and felt she represented the brand amazingly well!

Nose: This really opened up from the beginning to the end of the event after 3 hours the nose was big perfumed and had that amazing purity of cherry, rose, and tar I look for in great Barolo.

Taste: This is a pretty wine but with richness and power I loved the balanced. Located in Monforte d’Alba The cru vineyards of Bussia yield the biggest and richest Barolo. They also take the longest to fully mature. This is dry red fruit and leather it was O so good and surprisingly approachable after some time.

Overall: I learned Aldo separated from his fathers footsteps at Giacomo Conterno in 1961 to find this winery for his own vision in 1969 to create a traditionalist Barolo in a modern style. The son of a legend crafting exceptional Barolo and it’s showed here In the 2016… amazing value! I’m glad I met Ellen and discovered this wine through the event because it will be one with a great memory and I feel connected to the wine. I’ll be getting my hands on the rest of the line up now! Haha

  • Very smooth wine right out of the bottle. Slight plummish meniscus. Nose is faint. Deep cherry flame. Dry feel, with a lingering finish. Currant and tart cherry with some leather aftertones. Looking forward to seeing this one develop The longer it sits in the glass, the longer this wine develops

  • Drank over two days.
    N dark cherry, eucalyptus, cedar,
P oak, sweet raspberries, dried fruit, leather, herbs, iron
F AA in length, nice mouthfeel, lots of oak
Overall not my style of nebbiolo, oak was heavy and the wine felt hot as well

  • Pop & pour; way too young; need a ton of time; no distinctness to it; had layers of mineral (almost plastic) to it; could be really strong in future. Tar and roses just have not developed yet.

  • Chard, Pinot and Barolo, w/Food and Friends (My House): If you have these, I would continue to hold. Perhaps revisit in 3 or so years. It was decanted at about 4pm and consumed 3-4 hours later. This is still such a young wine that the decant didn't do much for it.

The nose was a little off, smelling of chemical and rubber (maybe the classic tar, but not exactly that IMO); palate is very exuberant, fruit primary, tons of structure, drinks more modern in style right now. Again, such a young wine, but imagine that this will develop into something really good over the next 2 decades.

  • Lovely nose after a few hours of air--cherries and red fruits, smoke, tar, mushrooms, pepper. Palate is dominated with firm tannins that give this an old-school feel, but there's just enough lush fruit to keep this accessible for now. Agree with the previous poster that this borders on jammy, which gives me some pause about its longevity. High alcohol (15.5%) is scarcely noticeable.

  • Was dubious about drinking this so young but it was so fresh and delightful - after a 1.5hr decant it was drinking really nicely. Very fruit-forward, borderline jammy for a Barolo. Would drink again - I'm sure it will improve with time but I'd happily drink another literally right now.

  • Wow, what an incredible, earthshattering explosion of pure fresh fruit here on the attack. This has tension and freshness and awesome crunchy fruit. The tannins are absolutely brutal at the moment not nearly integrated in the fruit, so this is far, far away from being drinkable or even accessible in my opinion. I guess this is going to need decades to come together. But the potential is immense I think. This could be spectacular one day, but I'm unable to rate it at the moment.

  • Fiery, yet in a tight and slightly majestic way with a beautifully concentrated redberry edge, darker raspberries, this clear road dust, graphite, balsamic, leather and pepper aromas. Good, full-bodied and almost slightly weighty and fatty fruit that still carries the acid in an excellent way and freshens up the clear cherry fruit, raspberries, leather, licorice, dried balsamic vinegar, mushrooms and this clear more exotic spice varieties on a long and slightly coarser pulp finish. Firm tannins but on this butter knife-like side. Long and complex finish. The alcohol is high, but is integrated. Give the wine 7-10 years and it will drink excellently.

  • no decanting

    - Nose: medium + intense, clear nose with youthful aromas that are very dense. Aromas of red and dark plums, wild berries and strawberries. A marriage of light and dark fruits, plus iodine and blood oranges. Equally lightly herbaceous spice reminiscent of eucalyptus, fresh foliage. Extremely fresh and vibrant - somewhat reminding of Cicala 2010.

    - Mouth: full pressure and somewhat creamy, melting. Clearly riper on the fruit side, dark berries, blackberries and some cassis. The freshness is a bit lost without food accompaniment, especially as the alcohol content is high. Medium + acidity, which counteracts this well and makes the wine more light-footed. Absolutely ripe, supple tannins (medium~+ tannins). Direct finish with lots of power and long echo. Nice that the alcohol doesn't come across as fat.

    - 93-94 points, amazingly accessible and top vintage. Still has a lot of storage potential.
