  • Tasted during Caviste, UK, Zoom tasting of Waterkloof wines. Aged in old barrels before release. Deep blackcurrant colour. The nose is rich, full, blackberries, menthol. On the palate, it's rich, full, quite big, and showing good fresh fruit at 4 years after the vintage. Good.

  • Bought 3b for 17/b from a local eclectic independent shop several weeks ago; this is #1. No decant, none needed. Dark purple; fragrant red berry nose, some baking spice, some herbaceousness; good fruit tending toward some wildness, good mouthfeel. Good pairing with the spice level of Malta glazed ribs. Tasty, glad I have more but don't need a lot. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation: For me, scores on a "100-point scale" are misleading. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. This is notable when considering quality, age, and price.
