Quick 40 minute decant. Aromas of potpourri, raspberries, cherry tart, flowers and roasted herbs. Flavors of raspberry Grenache, cherry, roasted herbs, currant and touch of iron. Ends with a 30+ second finish with roasted herb and raspberry notes.

Mostly strawberries with notes of flower petals on the aroma and palate. Tannins and acidity are medium. Body is medium-plus. Overall, I prefer the palate over the aroma.

2018 Clos du Mont Olivet Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge showed great typicity with spiced cherry and garrigue. The youthful CNDP was clear and medium ruby in colour without any sediments. Aromas of spiced red cherry and strawberry jam were followed by lavender and thyme herbs. Underneath were smoked meat, dark chocolate and pepper spices.
The mouthfeel was dry and full-bodied, with medium levels of acidity and powdery tannin. Flavours of kirsch, liquorice and earth led to Provençal herbs and ceylon tea in a rather long, spiced finish. The 15% alcohol was evident from its richness and abundance of spices. I would not complain about its high alcohol level, as it was a typical trait of a Grenache-based Rhône red. The empty bottle looked the same as the Châteauneuf Blanc, and weighed roughly the same at 616 grams.
The blend is composed of 75% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 9% Mourvèdre and the balance of other permitted grapes. The vines are cultivated all over the appellation on diverse soil types and microclimates. The lieux-dits include the famed La Crau for the galet roulés, and Montalivet from which the domaine derives its name. the grapes are partially destemmed, and the vats are filled by gravity. The wine is raised in a combination of large, sixty-year-old vats (70%), concrete vats (20%) and used barrels (10%). Elegance and perfume are valued over extraction and luxurious oak at the traditional domaine.

Decanted for 1 hour. Aromas of raspberry tart, potpourri, sour cherry, strawberry and roasted herbs. Flavors of raspberry, cherry, roasted herbs, currant and bit of earth. Ends with a 30+ second finish with roasted herb notes. Probably needs a bit more time to come around but drinking well now.

One hour decant, drank from half bottle. Off-putting nose of cheese (?), musk, red fruit. On the palate, very dry, chalky red fruit, sweet vanilla. Short finish. Defective bottle?

Silky, soft, refined and sweet, this medium-bodied, fresh wine is filled with chalky tannins, olives, herbs, red berries and garrigue on the nose and palate. This will be delicious on release.
