Tasted after a 45 minute decant. Pale to medium ruby in colour with lovely aromas of earthy forest floor & sweet red fruit with a slight savoury note. On the palate, medium bodied savoury/tart red fruit, strawberry/red cherry/raspberry, floral, earthy, high acidity, low to medium tannins with a medium to long finish to slightly peppery, sour cherry. Very nice wine & could have been decanted longer.

Medium intensity (a bit reduction/rubber) black currant, dill, liquorice, youthful. High acidity, medium body, long finish, medium tannins. Fruity, elegant and pleasant.

Under screw cap. The second label pinot noir from Akarua. From a good vintage in Bannockburn and Pisa, Central Otago. Plush red cherries and raspberries, some red plums, smooth tannins and a core of sweet-seeming red berry fruit. Not hugely complex. A good everyday drinking pinot noir with classic Central Otago typicity. It won’t improve with cellaring but will, I’m sure, drink well, like this, over the next 3-4+ years.

Red/dark cherry and raspberry, racy acidity and silky tannins, fruity sweet core, fresh taste and all balanced. very consistent quality on each vintage, a classic benchmark of Central Otago PN, Roaring Meg could be another one.
Ap 5/5, Ar 12/15, Palate 17/20, Overall 3+3/10 Total 90+/100

Not everyone’s favorite but I liked it. Still too young. Too acidic and tight.

Nice product representative of the region. Light in color and taste of small red fruits. Complex with a medium-long finale.
