2018 Alban Roussanne - Whoa! Big yet wonderful. Lovely sexy and perfumery nose interlaced with rich summer ripened nectar and poached pear frangipane tart mixed brioche notes, ultra fine dancing tannin structure with good lingering lemony (riesling-like) finish! The oak barrel is impressively, beautifully well integrated into the aromatics. Yes, I found myself kept swiveling the glassware to indulge into beguiling aromatics! (Add new note: remind me tasting older vintages of Aubert Ritchie Chard with the tangerine / cliementine notes … so complex and layers)
This wine is tasted side by side with top 2019 CDP blancs (Vaudieu and Beaucastel). What a great QPR to Beaucastel Vieilles Vignes Roussanne!
Scoring Range: 96-98; 96++ the wine will definitely improve with a couple years

Maybe the best version of this wine over my 20 years on the Alban mailing list. This one has the usual big upfront fruit in the form of peach, apricot and a hint of pineapple, but has a really nice acidic backbone and nice mineral nuance to balance everything out. Drink or hold. Delicious and decadent, full bodied white wine that is a real treat. Thanks John Alban!

Deeper and richer than the Clape St Peray of the same evening. Tropical fruits, sweet spice and honeysuckle notes - no need to wait here.

A little flabby, but lower on the ABV than most of this maker's efforts. A nice quaff.

Seemed to be a little sweet and not what was expected. So not giving a score.
