  • A first date wine! ( Before I could tell white from red?)
    This Chateauneuf was immensely pleasurable.

    15.5% abv

    Grenache 60/Syrah 40

    Clear, Pale, ruby intensity.
Light nose of mostly red fruit and some black. Raspberries and red cherries, along with some black current, and black pepper sprinkled in. Oak nicely noted.
Medium bodied, with tannins resolving nicely to produce an elegant wine.
Prior to sipping, I expected this wine to be hotter and more full-bodied, because of the alcohol and varietals. But, using a large bowled decanter enabled it to open within 30-60 minutes. It was a surprise.

I think this isn't meant to be, and nor will it be a long lived wine. It's drinking well know and it's structure might get it another 5 years easily, but not a decade.
    2030 max!

Addendum - left enough to taste overnight. And much of my assessment remains.
HOWEVER, this is not a wine that will be better in 2030. Drink over the next 2-5 years to prevent disappointment! Even if it's rather elegant and round.

Certainly enjoyable with a beef tenderloin cheddar burger!

    PS- Drink the rainbow!
