This wine will have a spot in our wine rotation. Fruit forward, but not pushy, with earthy notes. Body is medium and heavier than I expected. Tannins and acid is balanced and muted

Bright berry fruit with a hint of spice on the nose. The palate has cherry fruit and a nice savory note, with nice acidity. Pizza friendly and easy to drink at 12.5% ABV.

Savory. Hints of cherry to go with the earth and herbs. This had a ton of CO2 that required a triple decant and a lot of swirling to get it to a point that it was showing itself. Better the next day.

Retail $25. 100% Piedirosso. If I am to believe my notes, this is the second Piedirosso that I have tried or at least the second about which I have *written*. Using this wine as a yardstick, I need to drink a whole lot more. And soon. This was part of an online tasting with Piero Mastroberardino, the fifth (?) generation winemaker and it came close to wow-ing my socks off. Beautiful berry fruit (cherry, black raspberry) along with earth, minerality, and spice. The palate is delightful: spicy, earthy, and, yes, fruity, but the fruit is reserved in that delightfully European way. Close to a whoa. thedrunkencyclist.com
