A very good rendition of Beaujolais. Light, fresh, vibrant. Nice acidity. Lots of red fruit. Cheap and cheerful. I'm not really a fan of Gamay, but if you are, make sure you give this a swirl.

Was looking for a red in my cellar that could accompany sautéed cod fillets with pesto sauce, served with green beans and risotto. This wine paired perfectly: light, bright, beautiful red raspberry and red currant notes on the palate.

Served at cellar temperature, one half hour after opening. Strawberry and raspberry notes on the nose; light, dry cherry/cranberry on the palate; mild tannins on the finish. Selected as the "red wine" to accompany a grilled ground turkey shish kebab burger (including other layers of grilled pineapple, portobello mushroom and green and red peppers) seasoned with a bit of cilantro and garlic powder in a mild teriyaki sauce) this paired nicely.

Still pretty young. Needed at least an hour to start to open, at which point the dark and savory notes and acidity were less imposing, and some light red fruit flavors peeked through.

The wine is clear, pale intensity and ruby in colour. The nose is clean, medium plus intensity with primary aromas of red fruit, strawberry, raspberry, red cherry. Hint herbaceous green bell peppers and tomato leaf. Hint gravel. Secondary aromas of vanilla, coconut, cedar indicating oak. Bread and cream for lees and mlf. No tertiary aromas. The wine is developing. The palate is dry, medium + acidity, low tannins, medium alcohol. The flavour intensity is medium + with all characteristics present + hint pepper. The finish is medium. The quality level is very good, can drink now but has potential for ageing.
Pale garnet, possibly unfiltered. Aromatics medium. Earth, plums, ripe red cherry. Palate has medium - body. Acid medium +. Tannins medium -, fine on teeth and upper palate. Alcohol medium. Fresh, crunchy cherries, ripe raspberries. Finish has medium length. Balanced. I just finished off a cru Beaujolais Fleurie opened yesterday. This seemed much more old world than I would have expected, nice complex nose and the fresh fruit you would want from gamay. Pure enjoyment. Great acid. Drinking well now. Has the acid and fruit to age if desired.

Dinner at Wei Heng's (The Peak, Singapore): This took awhile to get going, but after an hour or so, it was a nicely enjoyable drop. The nose smelt a bit like a Beaujolais on steroids, with sweet, slightly candied notes of strawberries and red cherries and sweet floral notes fringed with a bit of damp earth of green bramble. Quite attractive. The palate was enjoyable too. Lots of fresh acidity, with a bit of the fizz that suggested some carbonic maceration, and then bright notes of sour cherries and berries laced with a bit of dried earth and a nice mineral tail at the finish, where a little bit of fine tannins came in. Quite nice, but this does need a bit of time in the bottle - maybe 2-3 years.

Sample from J. Drank in Grassl Cru. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Thin legs. Nose is clean, medium intensity, fresh fruity strawberries, raspberries, red cherry, angelica root, whole bunch spice. Youthful. On the palate, dry, dry, high acidity, medium- alcohol, medium tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of fruity strawberries, red cherries, raspberries, beetroot with a sour twang, whole bunch herbal spice. Emerging leathery texture towards the medium finish. Good quality. Fairly interesting Gamay from the New World. For youthful drinking.

This is a playful and fruity wine, and one that does indeed have a slight hint of spritz when taking a sip. This takes me back to 10+ years ago when my wife and I used to buy a sampling of Beaujolais Nouveau bottles each spring, though this A-R is like a fuller, more potent version of those. I agree with some comments wondering what this would be like after some cellar time, though I suspect very few bottles will avoid getting drunk in the first year or two.

How does Arnot Roberts make so many of their wines taste like you are eating grapes right off the vine? This is like that. Raspberry / cherry fruit but really without sweetness. Just super juicy, easy drinking, lovely.

Very spritzy on the tip of the tongue--almost, not quite, seems like carbonation. Dried fruit--cherry, plum--flavors, although not sweet, at all. Noticeable tartness. It may be that the spritz that I experienced was from acid. As expected, a medium-bodied wine. Slight suggestion of anise on the aftertaste. Very pleasant wine, although, not particularly complex.

Youthful and spritzy, light and ethereal. Cranberry fruits, but with a smokey initial attack that subsided after a little time in glass. Another great wine from Arnot-Roberts.

Really, really, youthful at this point. There's a good deal of spritz, which is really distracting, and it is generally disjointed. I suspect there's a good wine lurking underneath, but stow this away for a year or so and see how it emerges.

Notes of tart cherry, spice, minerals. A bit austere maybe, but nice.
