Popped and poured. On the nose it was wonderful, floral, red fruit and sous bois notes, layered and complex. Despite the vintage, never heavy, elegant and balanced. However it felt a bit young and primary. This was a pristine bottle.

Drank my last bottle. One hour decant. Had to add to my prior comment. This one lacked that "wow" factor. Awesome nose, yet didn't blow me away like earlier bottle.

Dinner at Beng Wan (Beng Wan Terrace): Really solid. I loved the nose on this. Violets, peppery spice, a hint of meatiness, and then lovely notes of black cherries and plums, all patted down with a little bit of earthiness. Lovely, heady stuff. The palate was really nice. Surprisingly ready for a 2005, with fine-boned tannins softened a good bit of acidity, all making for a really nice sense of structure behind a deceptively easygoing mouthful of dark cherries and berries, violets and spice. Make no mistake though, this was a true Grand Cru. Behind its easy demeanour, there was real power, depth and richness to it, with a solid intensity and beautifully length to boot. An archetypal Chambertin. Powerful, muscular, yet so effortlessly so that you barely noticed it’s authority. This was a wine that spoke in measured tones rather than shouting its quality. What a finish too - long, full, lingering. A very, very good wine. Drinking well and surprisingly light on its feet for a 2005. This has a long, long future ahead of it yet though.

Wow! This needs a recent note to correct those early reviews. This is delicious! Light on the tongue, silken; nose strikes you immediately. Lovely stuff. If you can get your handle on a bottle, buy it!

The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like mineral, oak, oak, cherry and raspberry. The body is full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity. Tried Coravin, which did not work! Uncorked decanted and drank with cheese at dinner's end. Good a little tight, so tried Vinturi which lost the finish and didn't enhance bouquet. Better unaerated. Drank half and Recorked in 1/2 bottle, and will try again Sunday. NOT MY RECOLLECTION OF CHAMBERTIN!!!

A little disappointing. Wine had a hard edge to it that overall undermined the drinkability. Would be curious to try again in a few years but would pass on this underperforming grand cru
