When the cork first came out, I smelled beautiful earth notes. There were berries and chocolate on the palate. The cabernet really gave this some refinement and the Petite Sirah added big shoulders. Not such a long finish or I would have scored higher.

Wasn't jammy, but it was a bit oaky and monolithic. Lots of ripe fruit(not jammy) and lots of chocolately oak. Not a lot of nuance or complexity at least that wasn't covered up by heavy oaking. Well-made, but not exciting. 89-91, probably less than more right now. Potential for a little additional oak integration.

I was actually surprised by this one. You get several wines during the year from Rubicon Estate that can be a bit sketchy. Its the price you pay more or less for getting some of thier other great wines. But this one was excellent. It had a nose of dark chocolate and dried cranberries, with a hiint of spice, bold ripe fruit, and minerals on the palate. Nice finish

Big, dense blackberry jam nose. Again, little depth on the palate; the wine finishes tight/tannic and short. A few years of cellaring could benefit this wine, rounding out the wine and providing fuller flavor.

Dark as night coming out of the bottle. Notes consistent with my previous notes.
