Dark colors in the glass, modest nose of leather, finish is decent. Not a Barolo level of course, but approachable now and if you are a Nebbiolo fan then this will tide you over while you wait for the big bottles to age

This is coming together quite nicely. Less fruit than a barolo which you notice on the palate, however it more than compensates for this with its structure. It is, as always, a matter of taste.

Aromas of sour cherries and red fruits. On the palate, the tannins have softened and the cherry flavours have developed a more complex aspect with emerging leathery notes. Delicious now but will also age well too.

Tasting the potential... 3 hrs open Classic nebbiolo , tawny colour. Leather, mushroom, aceton, gamey aromas with dill and roses hints on the nose. In the mouth also some acetic, gamey, Herby notes. The wine is not yet fully balanced, but the structured tanins and good acidity will hold it for much longer. This wine has 8-10 year at least to its peak.
91 PTS.

Approachable now, with a tenderness and delicacy that's quite appealing. Not overly aromatic, slightly inward looking, but there's an enjoyable touch of sweetness on the palate. Certainly needs food to balance the tannins though

Popped and poured; consumed over three days. No formal notes. Best on Day 3. I know there is some shade being thrown on the 2018 vintage in Piemonte but when Cavallotto is producing a Langhe Nebbiolo that’s this enjoyable, perhaps the vintage should be explored a little more. I found this to have really solid balance in fruit and structure. It was enjoyable on the pop and pour but fleshed out quite nicely over a few days. Charming, very charming.

A really good LN that has a lot of Barolo about it, but especially compared to Cavallotto Barolo there is less concentration and texture. Then again it has that extra bit of freshness you are looking for in a LN. Raspberry and slut cherry, violet, tar and licorice. Quite substantial and drying tannins that require some food or some additional maturity in bottle.

The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like strawberry, leather, red currant and tobacco. It tastes like cherry, anise and strawberry. The body is medium/full. The wine has angular texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium/high acidity.
Tip: Pair the wine with red meat, pasta or risotto. The food compliments the wine and you will have a far better experience. The acidity, alcohol and tannins become remarkably more noticeable when you dont pair it with food, putting it off balance.

Structure is utterly impressive. Such a masculine expression of this grape. I really like the opposite too, the nebbiolo wines where the fruit is at the very front. This wine, however, is a tour de force of old school Piemontese wine making - destemmed fruit but long, very long maceration and near as oak-free maturing in old Bottis. Fruit is red. Tannins are cathedral like. Slightest of christmas ginger bread and some exotic spices. In fact on opening I sensed a little reduction - something that blew off and was replaced by the archetypical licorice. The elegance of this wine is a product of a winemaker with ample self confidence. For a smoother tannin experience I guess cellaring will do it some good. If anything is a give away to the fact that this is not a fully fletched Barolo I would say it is the slightly weak fruit. And that is about all I find negative.

Too early to drink, very tannic at this point but the dried roses and tar is there. Give it five years and it should be really lovely. 90+

A previous bottle was much better. This was OK by the fruit a bit baked and overall felt a bit stodgy. Not easy to drink.3

Elegant nose of sour cherries and roses, good body and firm tannins. As good as some Barolos, not just a lightweight Nebbiolo. Classy.

Still structure and a Big Langhe Nebb. Could be taken for a Barolo from a lesser good producer.
Very fine.

Solid Langhe Nebbiolo. Savories more than fruits or florals. Tannins and acids on point.

Posh Barolo /Barbaresco bottle - looks serious. And it is. Warming, treacly, leathery, velvety. Autumnal, inward-looking wine. Gentle, quietly seductive, sweet, rich and giving, like sticky toffee pudding. Soothing.
