Farewell Dinner (Charlie Trotter's, Chicago IL): Side by side with the '47. Much more elegantly styled. The spice was the first thing that jumped out of the glass followed by delicate red fruit and pretty earth tones. Lovely texture with some nice grip on the lengthy finish. Fantastic.

Farewell to a Great Restaurant (Charlie Trotter's - Chicago IL): Amazing opportunity to taste this wine, particularly alongside its 1947 counterpart in the next glass. Spice-driven start with elegant combination of sous bois aromas and lingering red fruit. Palate was all about great earthy flavors, nicely supported and lengthening by good remaining structure. Long and lean finish. While I preferred the 1947, others preferred this wine which is a little more of what you classically want in older Burgundy.

Clos des Lambrays-Fifteen Vintages (2011 to 1919) at 2014 La Paulee; 3/13/2014-3/15/2014 (Various Locations, San Francisco): Pale all the way to the meniscus. Certainly not as pristine as the other ancient bottles. Volatile acidity, acetate and some stalkiness. Best in its chocolatey feel and viscosity. Some fruit left but this is pretty mixed up and past its prime from what must have been a very warm vintage.
