Ripe peach, lemon, white pepper, chalk, and floral notes on the nose. Nice acidity with more mineral notes and keeps the ripe fruit (peach, sweet apricot) in check, aided by more citrus flavors. Long finish. Definitely a big wine, showing the ripeness of the vintage, but also quite layered and balanced. I liked this more than the GV from the same vintage.

Superior to the bottle I opened more than a year ago. This still shows super-bold, ripe Riesling fruit, but everything is in greater harmony, with ample acidity and pronounced minerality. This is a pretty big and grand impression of Riesling, and not a wine of great subtlety. But that's not a criticism any more than one would criticize Montrachet for being big and grand.

This is a big, opulent Riesling with an underlying sweetness that borders on too much. But the savory herbal undertones, minerality, and striking acidity keep this drinkable. Grand cru weight on this one; may reach greater heights if it settles down with age.

Rich, ripe apricot, nectarine and white peach fruit. Still a baby, this needs to shed some of its over exuberance of fruity flavor. A nice backbone of minerality is trying to peek through. This should age quite nicely.

Tasted after Loibenberg Riesling Smaragd this shows equally ripe fruit on the nose, but another dimension of minerality, herbal undertones, floral notes. Very complex and intriguing. On the palate lots of ripe fruit, very powerful and intense, very mineral, fresh, but also quite tight just after being bottled. An impressive wine, despite its weight well balanced with amazing length. Needs time. 94-95+
