Very good. Felt I may have opened it a little early but was still a great bottle. If I had another I would get a few and open in 2026. Still well worth it. Good buy for $

Hmm... for some reason this has a very nice nose to me based around its fruit character. Mid palate has a bit more plum and ripeness showing through, and the back gets a bit clumsy.

A little disappointing compared with 2016 & 2017 vintages. Expected more complexity and fruit driven. It did open up a bit after decanting. A good quoffer but I’ve had a lot better at lower price points.

Not sure what James Halliday was thinking giving this a 96. It’s a 90 with a generous reviewer and an 88 for me.
Not much in the way of complexity or layers. Simple cabernet with some freshness from acid. Easy drinking and will be pleasant enough for a crowd, but nothing substantial or memorable.

Bought a half case of this from Wine Access since I haven’t seen much Margaret River available. My wife and I have been trying to go there since April 2020 for our 25th anniversary when….covid. After postponing and rescheduling 4 times, It looks like this year may actually happen now that Australia is opening up. Can’t wait to visit the most remote wine region in the world.
Decanted for 45 minutes. The Xanadu is very nice and shows solid structure for improving over next 5-ish yrs. Deep ruby color with some purple. Aroma intensity is medium with blackberry and black cherry, mint and black and white pepper (the pepper faded as it decanted). Also nice substantial mint notes. On the palate, medium acidity but lowish, soft tannin. and lots of black fruit and herbal mint and menthol. Some smoke and vanilla notes from oak but no tertiary flavors since it’s young.
It’s a very nice wine that will age a bit - but honestly it’s less complex than I expected. Hoping flavor and structure will come together more in next few years.

Dense purple fruit, ripe, smoky, plush, easy-drinking.
