Oh, the acidity. I tried 24 hours of air, on a wing and a prayer. Nope. Really hoping my other bottles don’t have this excessive VA. Whew, gonna need some milk. And I don’t like milk.

(Imported by Weygant-Metzler, PA). 82% Grenache, and roughly 5% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre, 5% Vaccarèse, 5% Counoise. Raised in concrete tank. Organic viticulture. __________
Color: Med-dark ruby. Classic.
Nose: Beautiful, pure, expressive nose of black cherry liqueur, black cherry kirsch, wild black raspberry, smoke, garrigue spices (herbs, shrub), and licorice. Beautiful purity.
Palate: Full body. Intense front and mid palate. Excellent concentration of flavor. Lovely, saturated flavors of sweet black cherry, black raspberry, and garrigue wild herbs. Long finish. Medium dry tannins and sl phenolic. 15.5% alc, but no heat per se on the finish.
93-94 pts. now. 94-95 potential. This Domaine Charvin drinks beautifully right now (late-2022), it's wonderfully balanced and not austere. But it is undeveloped. This would definitely benefit from at least 2-3 more years in bottle. The sweet spot for drinking will be 2026-2029.

Aromas of cooked berries, black plum, kirsch, dark chocolate, a little figs, herbs and lavender. Full-bodied, great acidity for Chateauneuf, this has a gorgeous tart fresh fruit character underneath layers of candied, cooked and dried fruit, significant tannin is fine and will turn velvety in time. Long and coating finish. This has impeccable balance and great intensity, and should be worth following 10+, if not 20.
Day two finds this in very fine form: olives, brighter berries, fresher floral tones and deeper chocolate have taken form... I would love to see this on 15 years, as I'm sure it will have blossomed into something extraordinary.

Pretty nose of red florals, some red summer berries, earthy herbs? And red licorice, similar palate that has medium tannins, medium acidity , 14,5 alc kept in check and a nice finish

Opened and decanted for 2 hours early afternoon and then returned to bottle until dinner and this is the best young Charvin I can remember tasting as it was wide open with ripe raspberry, floral, stem, thyme and pepper aromas that led to a rich, dark cherry fruited, earthy and mineral driven palate that lingered effortlessly despite its stated 15.5% ABV.

Vinetasters: 2019 Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Skokie, IL): Served double blind. Heightened floral/herbal notes on the nose, with a distinct candied strawberry note. A similar herbal note on the palate, but somewhat obscured again by the sweet red fruit and a bit of vanilla as well. Clearly a grenache-heavy wine. Thin structure with a little more acidity than most in the lineup. Bitter finish. My 1st, group's 2nd.
This was a pop and pour by the glass. Even with it just being opened it is bright and expressive, filling the glass with raspberries, sweet red cherries, violets, rose petals, spice, herbs, plums, mesquite, crushed rocks, and some black fruits. The Full bodied feel is pure and elegant with medium acidity and youthful, medium+ tannins. This is one sexy Grenache-forward Chateauneuf-du-Pape even at this young age. There is a lot of upside and this will need the better part of 6-8+ years to fully strut its stuff.

Intense, concentrated wine with bright balanced fruit. Bursts from the glass with plenty of local feel, a core of kirsch and an elegant feel throughout; while dense, it has an elegant feel, will age very well. Stay away for 5+ years. 95++

Just wonderful - lush waves of candied mocha licorice (but balanced), spicy fruit, sleek and elegant. Nice.

Decanted 1 hr. Would decant ~3hrs.
Cranberry, plumb, blackberry. Full bodied and mid-palate tannic, long savory finish that dries your mouth out.
