  • The cork was soft, the bottom broke and it was showing signs of starting to leak by. There was heavy sediment and filtering was required. The aroma was strong with blackberry, citrus and spice. The taste on the hard palate is mild with blackberry and vanilla. The flavor on the soft palate falls apart and all you get is a bit of a weak grape flavor. There is a vanilla and tobacco flavor on the tip of the tongue and it transitions into a light burn on the middle. The finish is woefully lacking any refinement.

I am very disappointed in this bottle, the best time to drink this wine has passed. If you have a bottle drink it now. It reminds me of a €10 bottle of Royal Porto at this point. It is still drinkable and enjoyable as long as you are not paying for the bottle. I recommend trying the Warre's vintage 1980.

  • Mellowed out a lot, but still going strong. This had a light red color, not syrupy but perfectly sweet with a pleasant nose and enough heat. Time to drink now.

  • Good flavor, though depth is less vibrant than other bottles of this vintage consumed.
