Selected this 3L engraved bottle of Lamborn Family Zin for our Thanksgiving family gathering and it did not disappoint! The wine was still relatively young with great body and dark fruit, with no trace of that overbearing typical overripe “California zin” character. This was a mature zin with spice and polished character. Very happy with this bottle! Hope that the bottle of 2004 that’s still in cellar shows as well.

Not a fan of Zinfandel but this is nice! Found in our cellar 5 years past the end of the community drinking window and it is still wonderful! Still plenty of fruit, not a hint of brown color

Nose of black Howell Mountain fruits, plums, blackberries and some raspberries, with soft vanilla and white pepper. In the mouth, fairly lush, the tannins have resolved, and the pepper becomes a bit more prominent. Loaded with dark fruit and some spice, and a lingering finish. A very nice wine.

Nice and complex up front. Dark berries, mushrooms, and earthy flavors. Unfortunately, it has a bitter and somewhat "green" finish which isn't terribly pleasant.

Wow! Lots of background: 1. Zin from Howell Mtn. 2. Heidi Barratt winemaker 3. 4 yrs. bottle age. Great deep color, nearly opaque, leads to fascinating nose of black fruit, marjoram and other spices that carry to the palate with added white pepper and some bright acidity and spiky tannins, making this still drink as a very young wine with a great ageing potential for another 5 years+. Amazing what a world-class winemaker can do with world-class fruit.

Still pretty young as we got quite a bit of tannin and some alcohol on the finish. Not nearly as jammy as the '04 which has been our favorite Lamborn. I'll give the other 2 bottles another year.

Oustanding zin. As oppposed to the other comments here we found the alcohol to not be hot at all. Very nice structure with fruit and spice. This is a keeper.

This was a very good Zin with all of the big spice that I like in a Zin. I decanted this about two hours and the alcohol was not subtle but the character of the wine carried it for me. I would buy this again.

BBQ Wines - Featuring Zinfandel (Farpointe Cellar): The nose had a load of raspberry jam on top of pepper, spice, and vanilla. The palate was a little sweet, with raspberry, spice, pepper, and a vanilla finish.

I would drink a lot more zinfandel if more zinfandel was more like this. Not a fruit bomb, with some great earth and spice. Nice stuff. Not sure if i had the 2004 or 2005, i think the 2005.

Popped and poured over 3 hours. Big nose of dill and oak. Palate is all spice. The alcohol wasn't really hidden that well, and the wine took on an almost lighter fluid aspect to it. After about 2 hours, it began to integrate a little more showing some spice.

A wonderfully deep and rich Zinfandel. It doesn't taste past it's peak to me in any way. However, it doesn't need to mature in the bottle anymore.

One of the best Zins I've had -- dark fruit jam, spices, toast and great mouthfeel. A group of Napa Cab drinkers really loved this wine.

A bit different than last bottle seemed more fruit forward, not bad, just different. Still a wonderful wine.

Dense and jammy but well integrated for the high alcohol content. Loved it!
