An unexpected contrast with the 2014. First attempt at tasting was basically pop n pour. Fiercely tannic, stalky, a black cherry bomb under a woodpile. Very surprising to me given how easy and fruit forward the 2014 was - I expected something immediately accessible in the ripe 2018 vintage. Well, no way. So we poured most of our glasses back into the bottle and gave it a day in an evacuated bottle and tried again. Yes it was more evolved, much more pleasurable and the herbaceous element was much better integrated. But this seemed far from ready to drink. Going to bury my other bottles for quite some time. For now, strangely, a notch below 2014. Score : 92 for now. Relative to expectations: +

On the nose it’s a cherry bomb but relatively restrained on the palate, mild tannins and mild acidity, hint of vanilla nice mouthfeel, medium length finish, silky mouthfeel with some tension but not much, very ripe could be confused for a California pinot. Nice but don’t know that I would buy again. Monopole

Soft and savory dark plum and berry fruit, medium tannic grip, low acid. 13.5% alc. Easy-drinking pleasure here, but not made for the long haul I think.

This wine was a spectacular surprise. Although there is certainly room for development with age I was not expecting it to be as accessible as it was.
Decanted for 3-4 hours. Opulent nose of red/black cherries, dark wildflowers, forest floor, and thyme. The palate was rich and complex while being light and restrained. Quite a delicate wine even with all of the concentration. every sip revealed more complexity. A very enjoyable journey to the last drop!
A very classy effort worth revisiting again in a year or so! A great sign for well made red Burgundy from the 2018 vintage!
Paired with handmade mushroom rigatoni and herbs!

Really a pretty wine, loads of red fruits. Well balanced, lovely acidity, and long finish.

Enjoyed it with beef tenderloin, potatoes, and mushrooms. Complemented the flavors.
