This wine is beautiful and just getting better. Opened and drank tonight through an aerating pour and by the second glass there were intense lemongrass on the palate coming through and that strawberry note is really forward right now. The winemaker website says Anise as well and I can get that on the nose while sipping the second glass. That should continue to evolve. A beautiful wine that finishes with Cherry and from a great winemaker. Excited for the next bottles over the next few years.

Tasted side-by-side with Paul Hobbs Goldrock 2019 PN. ON day 1, I favored the Paul Hobbs on the strength of its jazzy red fruit and structure with more tannins than the DuMOL, but both had similar taste profiles. On day 2 I favored the DuMOL with its more complex flavor profile including interesting earthy elements and longer finish. Both were terrific! Tasted with Lisa,Susan and Claire in Charlotte.

This has some similarities to the 2018 but still needs more time in the bottle. The first of six so I’ll probably want to hold the rest at least a couple more years. The initial nose hinted at sawdust? And cherry flavors right after a P&P, with notes of cola on the finish. As it opened more I got fresh grass or pine on the nose and more cherry and strawberry. It was a fresh and bright wine and a little tart.

C: dark clear deep ruby S: green pepper, citrus, plum, eucalyptus T: green pepper, plum, red cherry, alcohol tang, all fruit no carmel, smooth but not woody, cherry fruit water with a tannic finish, thick up front, high medium body, thinning during the finish, complex! Or is that just my nose working?

A meaty Gevrey profile. Smoke and beef aromas with stewed black cherries. Very round and voluptuous. Acidity is there but hidden in the background. Superfine tannins to hold it together. Very enjoyable now and will be interesting to see how this evolves.

Consistent with most of the other '18 and '19 DuMOL Pinots I've had. For me, most have been in the genre of "fresh red fruits, crisp, lively, structured, foresty, balanced," and the like. There hasn't been anything overweening or syrupy in any of them. And this bottle is true to the pattern. I'm maybe six months early for a score -- especially because it's hard to know yet if the depth is there -- but I'd put it in the 91-94 range.

I agree with pjhr tasting notes. Generous dark cherry with some interesting wood spice like pine. Delicious!

Very good. Cherries, cola, and a hint of blood orange. Well integrated tannins. Drinking well right now.
