    A supernice wine to drink now and if you can wait it will even better in a couple of years

  • This was outstanding, rich and expansive, and for my palate maybe a bit sweet for kabinett. Tropical notes like pineapple and guava coat the palate. A remarkably high quality wine, in need of some spicy food to tame but very good in its own right. Served next to a 2022 Falkenstein #9 (trocken) and while my style trends more toward dry wines, one can’t help but notice the remarkable quality here.

  • From a small maker (about 4 hectares - or close to 10 acres if that makes more sense to you) with great sites who takes immaculate care of his fruit. Haart's Moselle wines strike me as being very pure, very traditional and very cheap for what you get. The source is fruit from Grosse Lage (Grand Cru or GG equivalent), the maker learnt his craft with Keller and Egon Muller - I think you call that 'pedigree' and it shows.

    You could easily think this was a Spätlese style and at 8% ABV there is a distinct residual sugar element, but I feel it is just a notch or two below what I see as true Spätlese.

    This is beautiful on day 1 open; however, it is on days 2 and 3 that it really comes into its own, developing more depth and pungency without losing any of the gorgeous freshness that it has on day 1. Tropical fruits, ripe red apple, pineapple notes and such a long clean finish. I know $100 AUD (South Pacific Pesos) is a fair whack for wine but seriously, the experience is so deep I would pay double without hesitating.

    Very similar in weight and style to the best JJ Prum and I can't really give higher praise. This is wine for the mind and the spirit. I don't like to hand over 'Outstanding' ratings easily, but I can simply see no basis for denying this one.

  • Lys, nesten vanndig farge. Floral duft av hvite blomster, fersken, ananaslake, lime. Svakt perlende, behagelig smak med lys smaksprofil, smak av fersken, lime, grønne epler. Merkbar sødme, god balanserende syre. Slank, ren, middels lengde, søt, leskende frukt i ettersmaken.

  • I decided to open this alongside the bottle of 2020 Lukas Hammelmann Zeiskamer Klostergarten Kabinett for an little comparison to see how the two wines evolved over two days and how they may be similar or not. The two wines were incredibly different, both fantastic but clearly from different places and coming from different hands.
    This wine screamed Mosel to me and was textbook Julian. It was elegant, refined and pure. The minerality seemed to show itself on both the nose and palate in the most fascinating way. There were notes of fresh apples, lime, and wild mint that rose from the glass while the palate crackled with prickly acidity and showed a melange of piquant nectarines and ginger spiced apples on the lip smacking long finish.
    On day two this had that true Kabinett feel, filigreed and pure, but persistent with nice verve. This wine is really good, like really good. Building on similar fruit based notes of the previous night, this added aromatic nuances of whipped cream and tarragon that just made it all the more fantastic. This Riesling is pretty, it is delicious, and it is mineral- what else could I ask for?

  • Lys, nesten vanndig farge, lett perlende. Nydelig duft av lime, limesorbet og svakt tropiske toner. Lett perlende i munnen også, delikat og leskende, slank og med rene sitrustoner (særlig lime) og ananas og fersken. Herlig sødmefull og leskende, behagelige 8,5 % alkohol og snill syrestruktur. En helt nydelig kontemplasjonsvin og en fin avslutning på måltidet, helt uten matfølge.

  • Splendid wine. Young. Very young. Hints of reductive notes the first hour. Gone after that, replaced with fresh fruit, delicious acidity and sweetness in perfect harmony. Lovely wine, but will improve over the next decade or two. Really good stuff here.

  • In der Nase kräftige Aromen von gelben Früchten. Am Gaumen macht sich eine recht verhaltene Säure bemerkbar, die sich mit ebenfalls noch recht verhaltener Gelber Frucht ein kleines, aber noch harmloses Duell liefert.
    Aromen von Pfirsich, Ananas und Maracuja.
    Hinten raus eine schöne Süße, die sich mit Schieferaromen paart.
    Tag 2:
    Da ist er!
    Viel viel lauter als gestern. Die gleichen Aromen, aber jetzt ab dem ersten Moment voll im Glas. Das macht richtig Freude und ich kann mich nur durch das Aufreißen einer anderen Flasche nach zwei Gläsern davon abbringen, sie nicht einfach direkt zu leeren und ihr noch weiter Zeit zu geben.
    Tag 3:
    Runder, ebenso laut wie an Tag 2 und jetzt einfach herrlich zu trinken. Der braucht noch viel Zeit, wird dann aber umso mehr Freude bereiten!

  • Much better on night two. Hold bottles for at least 3 or 4 years. Light white fruit nose, but palate more on the sweet grapefruit and kiwi side.

  • Young, reductive, fresh, delightful. Perfect acid level and sweetness. decent concentration and intensity. Wait 3-5 years for reduction to go away and complexity to develop further.

  • I normally love this cuvee from J. Haart, and I still like it in 2020, however compared to 2018 and 2019 it’s not quite at the level I was expecting. Felt a bit more one-dimensional than prev vintages. Nice fruit of lime, apricots, some nice tension with the acidity and sweetness. But lacking some depth. Although a couple of days in the bottle in the fridge helped as a more balanced wine day 4. Still fantastic qpr and expect this too will come around in a few years.

  • Ganske reduktiv/lukket på duft. En blanding av hvit og grønn frukt, røyk og mineraler. Lett som vann i munn med et subtilt uttrykk. Perfekt kons for sin stil, med ypperlig balanse. Bløt sødme og krisp syre. Veldig god Kabinett til enda bedre pris. Litt usikker på om den var like god som 18 og 19 ved lansering.

  • Perhaps a tad better than the previous vintage at the same point in time. Great balance, obviously young, OK length for its kind. Have to love that fresh fruit on the white side, the lingering acidity which by far offsets the sugar. Light on its feet and the fresh appearance, this is one for those late summer evenings and great barbeque dishes. This can handle some not too spice dishes also.

    Half a case bought, 1 down, hard to resist...
