Initially some River rock and minerals on the nose as it opened more clove and Christmas spice. A little closed although the palate is very silky. So much potential just needs time to unwind.

Deep ruby. Powerful aromas with some age of vegetal, black cherry, and cedar. Dry, medium-full body, crisp acidity, high hard tannins, moderate flavors of black currant, black cherry, and asphalt. This was way too young.

I've been a Robin's Nest member for about 4 years now. J Daniel is pretty consistent bottling year in and out. This was no different. Plush and polished. Dark fruit, licorice and notes of tobacco spice. No sharp edges for such a young wine.
This is one of the few 2019s that I have had which still needs some time to sleep. Coravin'ed on day 1 which was okay. Opened on day 2, decanted for 3 hours and drank over the next 3 hours. It got better with time!
Dark purple in the glass, with black and blue fruit, mineral and chocolate notes. Tannins are powerful but are starting to integrate into the wine. Finish is long. The blend of mountain and valley floor grapes seems to work!
Doubled decanted and drank after about 3 hours of air. Nose of creme de cassis, roses, forest floor and dark chocolate. This has a fantastic interplay of dark fruit and powerful earthy elements. Full bodied, with super grainy tannins, good acidity and lovely purity, it begs for time in the bottle to stretch its legs and allow some of the super powerful core to expand. Long finish shows great potential.
This is more approachable than the 2018 edition, and yet it really needs 3-5 years to integrate more unless you love the concentrated power. I found it to be pretty awesome and I love the structure and complexity that is to come.

Really rich cabernet fruit character, and on the palate as well. Just opened and certainly all the stuffing is there, just needs to ease in.
