  • Of the 50 + wines tried in the Barossa from 24 we brought with us to ones we purchased at dinner or new releases tried at wineries, this 1975 Moss Wood Cabernet blew them all to the Schiessehausen. Indescribable in its depth, richness, youth and full bodied young palate. Im yet to try a Moss Wood past its best and everyone i have had from the 70's is an ethereal work of art. This bottle had been checked by Keith at the winery. Although not certified or marked as such it was an inch into the neck and had a new style cap. Moss Woods version of a Penfolds cliniced bottle. I have had it once before and it was stunning but this bottle stepped it up again. And now for the best part. i bought 2 of these a few years back at auction, both in the same condition. Cousin Marky bought one off me ( the one we drank) and i still have the other bottle which excites me terribly and gives me a "semi". I also have a 75 Latour in the cellar, a particular favorite vintage of Latour for me, but i now cannot wait until i do both these 75's together. I know the Moss Wood will compete with the Latour, may even beat it. what a stunning wine. And i cannot think of another 1975 Australian wine that comes close. Maybe a YYDR1. My god
