opened too early. dark inky purple in the glass. immediate oak with baking spices on the nose. blueberry then comes through. on the palate blueberry and chocolate with a medium plus to high acidity (hence why I said I opened it too early) tannins are medium plus to high with a stickiness in the middle of the tongue and on the teeth. finish is long but simple. high acidity reigns. this has a long way to go to be at its peak. personally at least another 10 years to be at peak

Definitely needs a good airing out at this youthful age but as always Holler over delivers. Will try to hold off on the rest. Guessing score goes up with some bottle age.

Enjoyed with smoked prime rib. Classic cabernet flavors after some time opening up in the glass. Probably could use an hour decant, but wasn't bad right out of the bottle.

Day 1: Well as big of a fan as I am of Washington Wines this tastes straight out the playbook of an over oaked Napa Cab. Oak, vanilla, heavy spices, ripe fruit and butterscotch. One of those wines that might improve on day 2 or 3 but so many better wines in Washington for my tastes. 86 points Day 2: Well still heavy wine with too much oak. This wine needs to be put in the back of the cellar and forgotten for 10 years. Dark fruits, vanilla, oak and spice. Just not my style but I also can't stand Quilceda Creek. 83 points Day 3: Not even drinkable at this point. The oak influence tastes like a charred Bourbon barrel. Might be one of the worst wines from Washington I tasted this year. 70 points Recommendation: Not buy if you hate over oaked wines. Super excited to sell my last bottle to a friend at my cost of $30. This wine is not good at all.

I have become a big fan of this wine in very short order. This is rich, supple, chocolatey, and elegant. Beautiful chocolate/cherry. Call me impressed. 5-13-17-9: 94/100

Tasting even better this time, with a depth and richness equaled in few cabs. Both the bouquet and palate on this wine are exotic and really need to be experienced to be believed. There are blueberries and red fruits together in a spicy and complex package. 4-13-17-9: 93/100.

One hour decant. Beautiful deep purple color. Rich aromas of black and red berries, mocha and spice. Full bodied black and blue fruit flavors, cedar, smokey minerals/stone. Silky smooth tannins and a lingering finish. Very nice now, a little air seems helpful.

Ripe and modern, featuring gobs of spicy oak commingling with notes of sweet blackberry and black currant. Simple yet tasty, and just enough tension from the tannins on the finish to keep you going back for another sip.
Popped and poured. Nice dark red/cranberry color with violet highlights. Some red/purple legs, too. Pretty but rather faint purple flower nose. Fills out nicely in the mouth, though, medium body, ripe but restrained, mostly purple fruit flavors. Pretty decent for the dollars. 5-12-16-8: 91/100.

14.5% abv. Received a partial bottle to try from my oenophile friend.
DARK, Clear, Ruby-Red on the pour, with purplish tinges along the edges. Blackberry, Cherry, and Raspberry on the nose, with Cherry and Cassis prominent on the palate along with distinct Cola notes. Medium-bodied, but full-flavored, smooth, and well-rounded in the mouth. Subtle tannins have just a bit of 'bite.' Ample acidity provides a pleasant tartness on the long, lingering finish. A bit young yet, but drinking well now.

Sourced from a dozen esteemed Columbia Valley vineyards, Sparkman's 2019 Holler is an opaque ruby blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Malbec, 5% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot that was aged in a combination of French and American oak (37% new). Flaunting an aromatic profile of dark bramble fruits, bark, holiday spice cake, espresso and bittersweet chocolate, it is a full-bodied red with fresh acidity, seamless alcohol (14.5%), well-proportioned wood and plentiful sweet tannins. The flavors are congruent with the aromas and are nicely pervasive on the mid-palate. Closing with a long, spicy finish, this is a delicious young Cab that should show well for several more years. This particular bottle was Vinturi decanted and sampled over a two-hour period. Give it at least an hour in decanter if possible. Drink now-2034.

Holler always over delivers. Will be fun to watch this evolve. I opened a BC cab of a similar price point and the holler ate its lunch.
