Similar nose to the Wehlener Sonnenuhr, save that this has a bit more of a mineralic bite. Slightly hollow in the mid palate, didn't feel a huge step up from the Spatlese.

JJ Prum - 2020 range tasting: Very coiled up on the nose - shows some spice and grapefruit with slate and smoke as well. Palate has a similar restraint to it, it feels remarkably delicate for an Auslese with the sweetness sitting underneath the mineral acid which is in control currently. It did start to reveal a bit more character with vigorous swirling but still hiding its charm right now - I'm confident it should come out of its shell with time.

At a tasting with Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese as a comparison. From memory so no detailed notes. Both show a major leap in quality from the Spaets. Here the pedigree of WS really started to show relative to GH. However the GH is more accessible right now. Both wines had the Auslese richness but also great acidity. Overall the WS now finally asserted itself as the more prestigious location, with just a lot more of everything. The GH is no weakling but just has a little less stuffing in it. Both were beginning to shut down, with a long life ahead of both, WS in particular. Score: 93-94 for the GH. Relative to expectations: ++

The Prüm 2020s with Howard Ripley Wines (Zoom!): Family resemblance to the other GH wines, with a fumy, steely quality and a bitter edge that materially tempers the impact of the sugar. Some grilled peach and smoky pineapple. Silky texture. Felt very immature at this stage.

The wine was beautifully tangy, honey, sweet but nothing artificial, feels like fresh stream of water fall

Alongside the WS, gently sweet, so light and crystalline. This has hay and dried flowers, very bright and long.
