  • Sensational wine although currently the nose seems withdrawn at the moment. That said there are excellent flavours of lemon curd, grass, and passion fruit notes on the nose and the palate is tightly focused and youthful with a soft creamy palate that carries seamless tropical and lemon flavors in a bright, vibrant mode. mmm

  • Screwcap, 13% alc. 60% Sauvignon Blanc, 40% Semillon. Pale straw gold.

Fruit salad, Seaspray, wet rocks, grapefruit, cut grass, fennel, talc, and a herbal element, but not greenness.

Excellent length. Phenolic grip; crunchy mouthfeel and firm acidity. Medium bodied. Fills out the mouth with an abundance of flavour.

Opinion: there’s a lot going on here, yet it’s moreish and smashable. Food friendly.

  • A little closed on the nose when from SSB I normally something highly aromatic, but that was the only disappointment here.

On the palate there's a mouthful of tropical fruit like green mango, tart pineapple and banana, but all with a slightly underripe/bitter note that stops the wine from seeming sweet.

There's also a bit of rich mandarin and marmalade citrus that makes me think of Sauternes, so I wonder if a small percentage of the grapes had some botrytis, or maybe it's an oak or lees influence.

I haven't drunk much white Bordeaux so can't make a comparison with that style, but it's more interesting and complex than any Aussie SSB I can remember. I'm really curious about how it will age.
