Waaaay too much alcohol here. On the nose, on the palate, everywhere. 16.6%... Had I noticed this I wouldn't have purchased this wine. I don't see how this will resolve itself with any amount of time in the cellar.

I have to admit, that Woodward Canyon is my favorite Washington winery, going back to the late 90s when I became enamored of the '95 Old Vines Cab, which was a life changing wine. So I pick up these older bottles whenever I find them. And this did not disappoint ONE BIT! The artist series is typically an earlier "ready to drink" wine than the Old Vines, but nonetheless a serious cab. And the '07, tonight, was in fine form. Dark fruit on the nose with something a bit sweet, or lighter in color popping in for a moment (caramel?). Then it was just all lush black raspberry and cassis for the rest of the night. Hints of oak, vanilla, cocoa powder, cinnamon, it was all in such beautiful harmony. This will keep aging nicely. But I think it's "at peak" right this moment.

Classic Washington Cab. Inviting nose of black cherry pie filling, dark smooth chocolate, and a hint of black earth mingled with traces of tomato plant. Wonderful smooth texture with flavors of milk and dark chocolate, black cherry, baking spices, herb garden, and dark sweet earth. Went down real easy for a wine of this caliber and complexity. Can probably last several years more but why wait. This is what you bought this wine for.

Completely agree with previous 94 rating post. Chocolate on the nose and palate which hits you right away on the front and continues thru the middle while picking up dark rich fruit. A little spice (cinnamon? nutmeg?) on the long finish. I need to add more Wash cab to my cellar. 2012 artist series is on for $40 at Vin Chicago in Oct.

Delicious. Chocolate, buttery, dark fruit on palate and nose. Very consistent with past vintages of Artist series. full body but did not overwhelm steak. Good finish. Will always be a favorite of mine and Perlas'.

Gorgeous and captivating bouquet of Champoux Vineyard terroir, showing volcanic minerality, smokiness, dark berry fruits, hints of fresh jalapeno and many other pleasantries. Absolutely delicious taste profile, excellent balance and mouthfeel, intriguing textural element. Medium to fully body, medium structure and grip, delightful finish. A sophisticated and exciting Cabernet Sauvignon.

A dark brooding nose of blackberry, black cherry and smoke lead way to much of the same on the full bodied palate which offers layers of tobacco and chocolate flavored black fruit. Quite nice and if tasted blind I might have guessed a Rutherford cab.

Decanted an hr What a gorgeous wine, just starting to hit a good stride, [after having a 96 of this] I can see this lasting for long long long time, but its uttery delicious, great acidity, lots of tannins but very smooth, beautiful cassis with a hint of red peppers

Fruit was clearly there, just a question of the oak. Was powerful and could be taken to be too much. Plenty of time left on this bottle, so don't be patient

The nose shows dusty baking spice, cocoa, dark fruit and oak. The palate is medium - full bodied, oaky and hot. This wine tastes like liquid oak extract and is really not that enjoyable. I am usually a fan of Woodward's wines, and was really looking forward to this bottle, but unfortunately it's way too hot and over oaked. I have two more bottles that I'll try over the next 2-3 years, but a wine this out of balance will probably never develop into something great.

Subtle nose, big on the mid palate and a nice finish. We decanted and then poured. Agree with others that it still a little hot, but it is well integrated and has a nice balance.

Smells like plum, cherry jam and chocolate. Also some oak, it was stronger when it was first open but it'd better now that it's been open a couple hours. Feels great on the palate, a bit warm, cherries, spices, fig, chocolate. Well balanced. A bit of alcohol heat on the finish. Overall really delicious, just kind of hot in ways I'm not feeling.

Uncorked and let breathe in the bottle for a couple hours before drinking. There was a strong nose of alcohol and oak that pretty much overwhelmed the fruit. This wine is still pretty tannic, so I may have drank it too soon. It may very well turn into a pretty decent wine in the future or it might get worse. I really have no idea how it will evolve and if I did, you'd probably see ratings from Hog Scrotum attached to bottles at your local wine store. Since you don't, buy this wine at your own risk.

Drank at dinner with a 2006 artist series. Four others preferred the '06 but I liked this better. Fruit and earth on the nose, firm tannins with dark fruit, tobacco & acidity leading to a moderate long finish.

Purple color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of lavendar, plums, berries and a hint of cocoa powder. Rich berry flavors with added flavors of black cherries, currants and plums. Medium acidity, firm tannins, full bodied. Drink now with some air or over the next 2-7 years plus or minus a bit.

Cabernet Sauvignon (Farpointe Cellar): A very mineral driven nose, with the berry fruit taking a back seat. There was also some spice, and a little floral notes at the end. The palate was rich and smooth, with dark fruit and stone. It finished with a spicy floral taste.

This jumps out of the glass and is full on Cabernet Sauvignon on the nose. Brambles, plums, blackberries, and vanilla all do their parts. The wine has a rich feel on the palate, with full acidity working hard to balance out the richness. Raspberry flavors dominate, while some dark fruit lurks in the background gently pulling downward on the brightness of the raspberries. The flavors linger for a long time on the finish, and all components run out well. Vanilla flavors show up fully on the finish, and they hang on as long as the fruit and structure. Unfortunately, some heat shows up on the mid palate, and it sticks around.

Nothing but Northwest (Farpointe Cellar): The nose had massive amounts of dark chocolate along with fresh roasted coffee beans. There was also some raspberry and black currant. It ended with some spicy cedar. The palate had lots of sweet dark fruit, with mocha undertones. It finished with a big shot of oak.
