Dense gloopy full ruby. Hugely leggy in the glass. Dark fruited nose dominated by blackberry. Smooth and creamy soft tannin making it very approachable now. Still primary and lacking in acidity for cut or freshness. A well made example of its type. Three bottles with consistent notes. ***1/2

Deep ruby. I feel like with every vintage this wine gets more and more garish. The 2019 is simply dominated by oak aromas, blasting from the glass with notes of coconut, burnt toast, caramel syrup and vanilla that obscure the jellied and liqueur-like black fruit notes that sit behind it. Medium to full bodied on the palate with medium acidity, slightly coarse, almost chalky tannins, a touch of alcoholic heat and straightforward flavors of blackberry jam, Starbucks caramel macchiato and mint. This has its appeal, and will certainly have many fans, but there are unquestionably wines that cost a quarter what this does that offer just as much.

Clear deep ruby; clean medium nose of cassis, graphite and tobacco leaf; dry; high acidity; high tannins; high alcohol; medium plus body; medium plus flavour intensity; palate is tarter with strong fruit and addition of coffee; long finish; drink now or in 5 to 10 years; tasted at winery

Deep complex Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. A real treat with Porterhouse steak.
