PnP. It's been a long time since I had this wine, once my house white. First bottle of my last case. Grass on the nose. minerality on the clean palate with just a touch of bitterness in the finish. This mass-produced wine, widely available, is a very wine, and while not excellent, it is an excellent value. I have not yet tried the '22 or (just released) '23 vintages. (86-87).

PnP, chilled. A nice expression of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Lots of grapefruit, gooseberry and citrus. Zesty and food friendly acidity. Will probably hold.

A very typical NZSB that seemed very simple and lacking verve, but improved somewhat surprisingly over two days, building concentration (fruit intensity) and more apparent structure. Still a simple wine, but an enjoyable one.

13% alcohol; Deligat USA Inc, San Francisco, California; screw top, long legs, off-white; nose of generic cherries and grapefruit, fruit forward; long finish; tasted at David's Steak House, on board the Carnival Pride, on the Baltic Sea between Finland and Sweden

Consumed part of left over bottle (from 2 days ago) with left over grilled swordfish from the same barbecue. A delicious fruity wine - even though my preference runs more to old world wines, this is so good with grilled fish, and for 10 bucks.

It's ten bucks and decent. Any questions? ADDENDUM: Four days later, a ton of concentrated fruit. A lovely match for pan fried fresh salmon. Good value.

Once again this wine is so much like last year. It is bright with loads of acidity. Aromas are grapefruit dominated. In mouth the wine is grapefruit and lemon rind. Finish is lemon dominated with lingering lemon grass flavor background

Great Sauvignon Blanc. Has everything. Flint, nice acidity, florals and fruit, and hallmark cat pee. Great bottle. Great for these hot Summer months. *3rd night open green comes out. Florals and all other beautiful Sauvignon Blanc signature aromatics have dissipated quite significantly.

PnP. Very, very fruit (tart green apples) driven wine, bolstered by high acidity. Slight minerality, not complex, but this can be had for under 10 bucks. This is more opulent than the 2019, but not as refined or balanced as that wine. Better than the 2020. Curious to see what happens with air time and how it pairs with food. A real crowd-pleaser for "normal people." (86-88). ADDENDUM: Finished this bottle on 4/10. Holding up nicely, but the 2019 was better.

Just picked this up for $10 at my local big box wine shop. Looking for NZ SB's with lower sugar than the 2019 and 2020's, many of which to my taste were too sweet. I like the zing of the low sugar, high acid NZ SB's. The 2021 Oyster Bay goes pretty far in this direction, so I like it. As others have written, grapefruit is there, but I can't taste kiwi, lime, etc. Maybe add a lime wedge like the Corona beer drinkers? Nonetheless, a tart, tongue-puckering wine. Good! For aging potential, I have found that screw-capped wines such as this do not change much with age. I still have some 2016 NZ SB's (Matua to be specific), which still taste much the same as when first released. As such, I am a huge proponent of screw-caps. Chateau Petrus would do well to switch! There is a dominant myth that says that wines need to "oxidize slowly" to attain their peak, and that this requires corks. Unfortunately, with the variability that necessarily plagues corks, it is the toss of the dice as to how much oxygen is let in, so for any given bottle, you never know whether it is too early or too late to pop the cork. I believe that some of the aging of wine is due to slow chemical redox reactions that are independent of oxygen. If this is true, then good screw caps, which are highly oxygen impermeable, should at least make the aging of the wine uniform and predictable. The high end wine producers are uniformly opposed to screw caps, for seemingly irrational reasons, such as "tradition". With that logic, we would all still be using dial up phones. I would be interested to hear other's opinions on all of this.

Medium pale gold. Nose is extremely grassy. Underneath the grass are some aromas of melons and grapefruit. Medium heavy bodied, high acidity masks the 3g/l of RS, and very extracted. Grapefruit, lime, a bit of honeydew. Finish is overpowering astringent with grapefruit oil and pith. There are some other nuances in the finish such as saline and slate, but the overall astringency makes it hard to discover.
I typically like SBs for sipping on warm days and this is just too overpowering. This is taken to 11 on the intensity. If paired right, this is probably a good value. There are too many nuances of Marlborough SB missing or masked by the intense grapefruit palate.

NZ Sauvignon Blancs used to be interesting, but ever since they've been co-opted by multinational corporations, they're all pretty much the same, like cheap California Chardonnay. Meh.

{screwcap, 13%} Almost unreviewable this, at least from a vintage perspective, surely? The world’s most consistent vintaged wine? Grass and straw, slightest hint of asparagus. Close to dry (a bit of sugar evident though), lowish acid – the freshness comes from the green-edged tang of the fruit. Light body, with a short finish. Gluggable but simple. No cellaring!

Solid as ever. Been drinking this as a weekday SB for many years. Very consistent. Perhaps a little lighter on the acidity this year with pineapple and tropical fruit a little more to the fore.

Grapefruit notes dominate this wine but has some lime as well. Fairly rich fruit that seems to be better than the 2020 vintage in general. It is slightly low in acid, making it slightly unbalanced. Fruit fades with lots of air.
