I thought this was much better than the BG Dairyman Vineyard I drink a couple of weeks ago. This had plenty of red fruit on the palate. It was balanced by some earthy notes and not overoaked like the Dairyman was. There was some soft acidity but all in all, a pleasure to drink.

Appearance with a darker garnet color than I expect from a Pinot noir. Nose with dark black cherry, spiced plum, maple syrup, mixed berry pie. Palate with mild tannins, mild acid, integrated alcohol. Flavor profile complements the nose. The wine tastes well enough, certainly a pleasant drink. However, for me, this is not a wine I would buy again. I like the wine a drink to be a faithful representation of the varietal, to have some sense of terroir. Not to be dramatic, but when I drink a really good wine, I can picture myself in the vineyard where the grapes were grown, I’m transported there. This is not that. This is not at all what I would expect from a Pinot noir in any way, it is much more consistent with some lesser California Cabernets I’ve had in the past. It would be fun to do a blind taste test with this and a couple other Pinots and Cabernets to see where I would place it. All that being said. Tastes fine. Not my kind of wine experience, and if you’re like me, put your money somewhere else.

Very dark. Sweet nose with plums, cherries, currants and herbs. Sweet on the palate as well with ripe to over ripe fruit. Plum, red cherry and herbs. Heat shows up in the short finish.

A bit of Vanilla, oak, and cherry on the nose. Tartness of the cherry and sweetness of the vanilla come through on the palate. Light to medium body that makes for easy drinking and pairs well with an Italian Christmas dinner!

Sweet berry fruit that seems overly ripe, almost raisiny with medium acidity and mild tannins. Fairly big body with alcohol heat. Unable to recognize this as pinot noir when tasted blind

Decanted for 2-3 hours. A bit tough on the palate, and the finish a bit rancid. Not sure if it needs more time in the cellar or what, but I was disappointed.

Drank one bottle of a case purchased. I do always love the BG Clark & Telephone. But this is still a bit rough and I expect it to improve with some time in the cellar. Drank this next to a 2016 Dairyman and it was clear that the C&T needs some time to resolve all the components into a nice smooth Pinot. Let this cellar until 2024 is my recommendation and what I will be doing with my remaining bottles. You will be glad you did. To be fair, I am not rating this yet but I expect it to be 88+ when I drink the next one.

Decent drinker. Opened for a large party. Medium plus weight, with dark fruits and mid-palate spice. Easy drinking. No tannin. Balanced but not extraordinary.

Intoxicating nose, and luscious palate! Berries, berries, berries all the way through! Delicious! Had with cottage cheese loaf, mashed potatoes and gravy and fresh peas tonight. We've had this with a number of different foods from meat to vegetarian, and it is most excellent with all of them.

I don't drink much Cali PN, not as much as I used to as I prefer Oregon PN. Picked this up at the local grocery after liking the little taste they offered. Dark berries, cherry, vanilla, blackberry, cinnamon, baking spice. Enjoyed it more than I expected.

A friend was gifted this wine and wanted to taste it with me. I simply said thank you, that is very kind. Read on for my REAL review…
Please do not take my tasting note personal, this is in no way an attack of what you like to drink. This is simply my perspective based on decades of exploring all styles and regions of Pinot Noir. And for those reading, if you’ve never had this wine or thinking to purchase this wine to impress someone, you’ll likely be disappointed. For $50ish I can think of dozens of other wines that are less money and will provide incredible drinking pleasure.
These Belle Glos Pinots are so hard to drink… They are not indicative of the Pinot Noir grape whatsoever. Overripe, low acidity, oaky and flabby. Plus, they are hard to pair with food. They are fashioned for a particular style. They are not produced to show the true varietal character of Pinot Noir or terroir. Do yourself a favor and buy two bottles of Au Bon Climat for $20ish a bottle and enjoy a true Cali Pinot with a wonderful meal and great friends. Or, pick up a Burgundy premier cru for $40 and get to know good Pinot from the motherland.
A bit subtle compared to the delicious 2019 version. Well balanced cherry, raspberry and cranberry with cedar, spice, and oaky vanilla. Hints of tobacco and smoke as well.

Smoky from the 2020 fires. Otherwise it's a somewhat typical Santa Maria Valley, plush and medium-full-bodied. No long-term upside here, so drink up! 14.8% ABV. 90+

Too heavy for a pinot. Dark fruit forward, heavy. Not elegant drinks more like a medium bodied wine

This Pinot Noir (Syrah lookalike) is young and already drinking nicely.
Full bodied and intense with medium minus acidity.
Showing black plums, blackberries, oak, spices, chocolates, coffee, alcohol, licorice and peppercorn.
Soft finish with bitter herbs.
Good right out of the bottle and better with airtime. Only after 45 minutes of airtime, tannins show up.
A little unbalanced right now, with some RS, but will be better in 3 to 5 years. Spicy, tangy and hot.
Doesn't show like a Pinot Noir, but enjoyable and good for parties.
14.8% alcohol by volume.
88 points.
$50.
