Deep straw in color with a slight orange you. Knows of apple cider, right peaches, and lime stone. Taste of red apples, cider, hints of peaches minneolas, and apricots. Balanced, or dry, and lingering qualities of dissipated sugar. Really interesting and nice wine that went deliciously with spicy Asian food. Drink now and over the next three years.

Peach, apricot, slate, lime, and limestone on the nose. In the mouth, again peaches, apricots, minerals, apples, and a mouth-puckering citrus acidity. I did not find it completely dry (as others indicated) -- some RS, though less than much German Riesling. Nice now, interesting to see where this will wind up. Edit: Even better the second day -- somehow, the excess acidity seemed to drop out, while leaving all the minerality and fruit intact. Very nice.

A bit closed on the nose for the first 45 minutes but the flavors were well balanced, with a lovely feel to compliment Chinese style shrimp & veggie dish in Misso base broth. Very little RS -tasted almost like halb trocken -noticed 9.5% Alcohol so must have been vinified quite dry... Almost old world style Kabinett This should fit a good variety of dishes incl. Grilled veggies soups and anywhere you may not want to go with something sweet... The structure & minerality of the 2001 vintage makes a strong statement. This should be very enjoyable over the next 2-3 yrs

A bit like sucking on a lemon. Not a bad wine but just not that enjoyable. Needs a bit more stuffing and maybe RS to round it out. Will last a long tim because of a low PH and very high acid structure

Opened another bottle with Thanksgiving dinner at my Sister-in-Laws. German Riesling is such a nice match with turkey. Similar notes as before. No signs of fading. 88-89 points.

Pale yellow color. Lighter bodied (probably the result of the lack of wood aging). Tart grapefruit, lime, apple and a hint of smoke. Very crisp with pure clean flavors in contrast to the riper fuller bodied style of some other 2001 Germans- which was not a bad thing- simply the other side of the coin for 2001 Riesling styles. I like both styles. 9.5% alcohol but tasted dry due to the high acidity. 90 points.

Orchard fruits and a little honey on the nose. In the mouth, apples and white peaches and that nice sharp acidity to cut the sweetness. Very nice.

Almost too much acidity, but underlying sweetness balanced it out. Kumquat, and a trace of buttery wood. Nice.

Yellow
green core fruit aromas
fruity but not a crisp as expected. I suspect that a bit of the acid has faded

Opened 6 different bottles at a dinner, and this was the most popular wine by far, besting wines at 5x the price.

Very tart, unlike any Strub I've had before, though by no means painful. Lime and apple. Would have liked it more with more R.S., but that's just me.
