  • Lovely underripe peach with mango and flowers on the nose. Flavors are rich quince and starfruit. Not crisply acidic, but balanced, and a fantastic mouthfeel. Great success in this wine.

  • Yes I’m a biased Alban fan, but this is a great example of a classic Viognier. Great wine with shellfish.

  • 2020 vintage bursts out a la Condrieu! From 2016 to 2020, I think this vintage expresses like Guigal La Dorian the most if blind tasted. Bravo! It has the perfume of vibrant (green apple) and rich (almond croissant) intermixed with citrus and lemony notes and finish with lingering tension. Its viscosity is higher than 2019 vintage and helps to balance the tension. I notice the clarity is higher than 2019 (drinking side by side) pairing with Thai food and seafood pasta over last 48 hours. Can't wait to line up 2020 Guigal La Dorian to drink side by side next year. Stay tuned.

Both 2019 and 2020 are great vintages; and appeals to different stylistic preference. 2019 is like those ripe-year Condrieu with California decadence twist (caramelized French tarte tatin); whereas 2020 is more poise, finesse and subtle.

Rating: 96-99; 97+ for now and will improve over 1-2 years.
Applicable within Rhone blanc reference; ratings are not comparable to other whites (chardonnay, riesling, etc).
