Lunch at SO Redux (SO Reux): This wine gave off a ton of barnyard on the nose at first, while this did blow off it never completely left. The wine appeared brick in colour and appeared thin in the glass. This wine did open up quickly and released a ton of candied fruit and a hint of vanilla. The wine was not overly complex, but still very enjoyable

Pinot Noir Offline at Union League Cafe. Light ruby, with some orange at the rim. This wine tasted a bit over the hill to me, and not particularly complex, but it wasn't bad and had a nice lingering finish.

Red fruit on nose and palate with some good spice. Fruit is fading a bit with good earthiness coming out. Wine is at a good place now, although I think I preferred it when slightly more fresh 1-2 years ago. I wouldn't hold much longer.

Lots of big fruit but also good balance. Good elegance with good acidity for a 1997. Good pepper and smoky flavors complement the fruit nicely. Spice really comes out well on the long finish.

Similar to my previous tasting but a bit more muted and shorter. Three bottles from the same case over a couple of months with different results.

Much like my previous tasting, but with a bit more prominent flavors of strawberry, and the fruit picking up depth over several hours open.
