  • Yes, this is a Five for me. Game changer. Enjoyed at our annual Christmas tasting dinner and it was paired with a venison. So incredible that I had another glass. Black currant, cassis, black pepper, leather, tobacco. So rich, complex and deep. Good amount of Oak. Frankly, I'll look to buy a case of this. Spectacular

  • First of 12. It pours black from the bottle. The nose is quite ripe, but also shows complexity with violets, blue fruits, black pepper and smoked meats. The palate is rich, with a very long finish. The acidity is balanced, the tannins are very fine and do not dry out the finish at all. The 14.5% shows just a bit hotter than what I prefer, but the wine still feels elegant and balanced despite this. I feel like this is a tightly wound wine that needs time. It's great now, but should be way better in a few years. 94+

  • Feels somewhat closed - there are subtle notes of olive, bacon, unripe black cherries/blackberries, with a characteristic funk. Texture and tannins feel pretty well balanced but just lacking a bit of expression. Perhaps needs longer decanting or just a bit more time.

Promising future ahead but needs patience for a few more years.

  • Absolutely amazing, and would probably find its way to perfection on my scale with a little time in the cellar. Excellent value, too- this is still widely available somewhere in the $75-$80 range which is more than fair, and I paid $60, a true steal. No decant - shared with a large group, but it was expressive right away.

This is what syrah is all about. So dense with black, black fruit, but with a shocking weightlessness, and equally surprising pops of bright energy and complexity. On the nose, inky wild blackberry, blueberry, mulberry, all very dark black fruit but tiny and electric. You can practically smell the acidity, alongside a hefty dose of high-toned funk, a really distinct and unique black coffee tone I rarely associate with syrah, a bit of olive brine, and black licorice. Every so often the very french, very funky umami threatened to overwhelm the fruit, but it always came back.

Palate about the same. Sure, the tannins are noticeable, but they're hurtling towards silkiness and will feel like full velvet in a few years. Acidity is perfect, so bright and shiny without ever feeling tart or sour. As a whole the wine could be a little more harmonious on the nose and a bit more explosive/present in general, but those are issues easily addressed with aging, and it's nearly there already.

  • Decanted 4 hours

medium bodied with a long way to go until it is fully integrated. A bit short on the palate compared with my expectations, reflecting a general reticence

Ok at Costco price, hopefully it will develop over a few years to merit the more extravagant listings

  • Way way too young to drink. After being open for 24 hours in the fridge good dark fruit, good structure and some funk I hope goes away

I wouldn't open another bottle till 2026 at the earliest

  • A delicious Côte-Rôtie ! Very dark. Black fruits dominate with other notes of black pepper and thyme. There's also a funk in it that I enjoy a lot. It was easy to drink despite its young age, I'd say drink now to 2030.

  • Straight from the shelf at the retail monopoly release - a delicate, earthy & rustic odd bird Côte-Rôtie made on 100% Sérine. Deep ruby-red w darker core in appearance. Nose opens on a hearty, fruit-driven note w blueberries & brambles, backbone white pepper, distinct violet touch. Massive palate, loads of juicy, ripe blue/black fruit throughout, just enough acidity to balance roundness of the fruit, velvety tannic structure up until finish w pronounced grainy, earthy & graphite notes emerging. Serve chilled!

  • Deep color. The nose shows aromas of potpourri, dark berries, minerals, flowers and a hint of pepper. This is full bodied on the palate with excellent concentration and outstanding class. The long finish features noble tannins. So fresh and classy.

  • Meaty, chewy, forward, soft, medium-bodied, forward, floral, lush, and loaded with deep, dark, spicy red fruits. You can enjoy this with just a few years of age. Drink from 2025-2040.
