  • A very nice, polished Sauvignon Blanc. Does smack of Bordeaux blanc style, and not sure I'd pay $52 again for it, but you're paying a lot for the name obviously. It was fun to try, in any case.

  • Took a little bit to open but after 30min started singing beautifully. Floral and herbaceous nose. Notes of grass, lemon grass, grapefruit, honeysuckle, key lime, chamomile. Mouth is lifted, medium intensity and medium acidity. Acidity is actually well controlled. Notes of honey, peony and minerals. Medium to short finish. It’s good, very good. But not a good QPR

  • I could get lost in this nose. Beautiful multitude of variables of quince, lemon, lychee, grapefruit. Goes on for minutes and evolves. Palate of strong acid that tropical fruits listed on nose with a complement of salinity minerals and hawthorn herbs. Finish goes on for over a minute. Great wine.

  • At Boston Wine & Poker: Tasted blind. An intriguing, exotic wine, with some weight, moderate acidity, and a strong dose of sulphur (which I think will dissipate with age or air). We drank this alongside a Dagueneau Pouilly-Fume -- I didn't identify either of them as Sauvignon Blanc, and I certainly didn't think that the two wines were from the same grape.

Many thanks to David for bringing this one.

  • A nice blend of Sauvignon Blanc rounded with Vermentino (most of the blend). More reserved aromatics than expected. Though well-made and enjoyable, QPR isn’t high enough to buy it again.

  • a surprising delight with a classic sauvignon blanc nose and flavor profile
will be giving good sancere a run for it's money though there is some expense to consider

  • Visit to Ornellaia in Bolgheri, where it is located at the beginning of the famed Cypress avenue.

This is Ornellaia's "second" white wine, and it was a pleasure to try this at the winery on our visit.

I was surprised with the crispness and freshness of this Sauvignon Blanc dominant white!

In fact the blend ratio of this 2020 Poggio Alle Gazze Dell'Ornellaia is 69% Sauvignon Blanc, 22% Vermentino, 5% Viognier, and the rest Verdicchio. Only 350 cases were ever produced!

Citrus notes on the nose, and wonderful white fruit such as peaches and apricot on the palate with a wonderful balanced mouthfeel. There were hints of tropical fruit on the finish and that wonderful minerality too. Cheers!
