  • Pronounced nose intensity with notes of black and red fruits, plum, fig. Medium+ acidity and medium+ tannin.

  • Poured half a bottle through an aerator into a decanter. Sniffed and sipped 30 minutes later: Clearly Merlot from Sonoma. Plum with some cherries. Still good acidity to pair well with food. Resolved tannin. At peak. Could perhaps improve a bit, but no reason to think it will. Drink over the next two years.

Rodney Strong consistently produces varietally correct wines at a reasonable price, regardless of the grape, across vintages. Well done. 89 points.

  • Dark berry and red plum nose,, dark berry fruit well integrated with smooth oak tannin.
No precipitates so you can pour and decant the bottle easily. Even better the second day so the youth is still there. Overall very pleasant at an ok price point. Very drinkable now but could hold its quality for another five years in good storage.
