  • Intensely floral, with hints of citrus and chalk on the nose. A generous body - slightly oily at first, with a lemon and under-ripe peach finish. Plus minerality. Excellent QPR.

  • Feels and tastes a little buttery - maybe it’s the hints of vanilla? I usually like my whites a little colder but this one really expresses itself as it warms up in the glass. My wife and I are planning a trip to Rhône region year after next so this is the first of what I’m sure will be many reviews of wines from this region.

  • Nothing to add from the last note, except to say, don't overchill it!

  • I kept a little overnight, for a second serving.

    Addendum -
Had this with a spicy dish tonight, and it was significantly better than the first day. Maybe air, maybe food... But, it's better. Not enough to move the rating. I'll wait until the next bottle for that.

This is a light bodied Viognier, and isn't close to Condrieu, but neither is the price!

(For many years, I've had a Napa Viognier, Cline, which is at least as good... Though like most California wines, oak and buttery-ness is pronounced!
Again, it's cheap, compared to Condrieu.)

    Pale greenish yellow.
Unripened pear, green apple...( It was overly frosted!)

As it warms, becomes more like the varietal should
Pale lemon colored, with a light than expected Honeysuckle nose.
The green apple remains in the palate, with,Tangerine, Peach and melon.
It's a fresh wine, and it's definitely a contrast from other past wines of this varietal.
    Lightly oaked
    Light medium bodied
    High acid
    High alcohol
    Dry, with little residual sugar
The finish is medium at best.

All that says this wine is good, but not great. However, what is great, it was more delicate with the Atlantic Scampi dish.
(I recall the benefit of the buttery-ness of the Cline Viognier with the Giant shrimp)

    Viognier 100%
    Xxx abv

    PD - Drink The Rainbow!
