  • Nice fruit (lemon, lime, apple, slight peach), honey, nice floral, good acidity. Bright. Lingering finish. Really enjoyable.

  • A noticeable step up from the Kilburg, showing quite nicely with apple, pear, white flowers and honey on the nose, and a creamy rich palate with med+ density and a good well balanced finish. Benefits a lot from the vintage I think, but I really liked this and am looking forward to trying other Steinmetz wines.

  • Lunch with Rich: Aromatic, showy, lemon-lime, white flowers; palate is medium bodied, vibrant medium-plus acidity throughout, tangy sweet and sour candy, lemon-lime, slight white peach; finish is medium-plus length. This is showing well and very enjoyable. 91-92
Day 2: Well balanced, perhaps a bit less vibrant acidity but replaced with a bit more peach fruit, white flowers, still with some tangy lemon-lime throughout. Lovely riesling and great value.

  • Day 2: Jesus this is intense. An alloy of sharp lime citrus and salty minerals. Some honeysuckle and a little sweeter tropical. Wow. The palate is packed to the gills with sharp lime, saline minerals. Tons of dry extract and huge acid. Also some hints of creme. Softens in the middle a bit. The end of the palate and the finish come on explosively - with the lime and minerals again. Grippy and long and really crisp. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 5-5.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1-1.5/2 = 16.5-17.5/2.

  • In short , this is stunning. It’s like a frickin fruit stand on the nose. Lightweight on the palate with enough acidity to wake you up, but not enough to strip your teeth. It has a lemon-lime taste that is balanced with grape and white peach. The minerality is impeccable and balanced as well. Excellent to Outstanding.

  • Very bright clear pale straw color, pure and clean nose with white flowers, mango, cantaloupe, a slight rubber band/petrol whiff in the background. Oh my, this is delicious and mouth-coating (not in a dense mouthfeel way but in a penetrating flavor-bomb way), Welch's white grape (you know it, you love it) meets the world's best lemon/lime-ade, with a looong lingering bright lime-ade washing over slate finish. Super layered, super enjoyable. Bumping from 93 to 94 as I continue to sip, it really is that good, great value.

  • Bright, energetic, and complex. A combination of bright citrus, saltiness, and wet slate. Everything you want in an off-dry tasting kabinett. Oodles or ripe, refreshing acidity.

  • This was the first time I have had this bottling from the talented Stefan Steinmetz and wow, it was fantastic!
It showed that playful balance between elegance and raciness that I love so much from the best 2021 Kabinetts. Finally chiseled with candied lemons, piquant nectarines, and a cooling minty note that was wonderfully complimented by a flutter of florality and a flat out delicious and never ending finish.
I was happy to share this with family members who were over for dinner, but was left wishing that I got a lot more than the single glass that I was left with. This is a special wine that will be a joy to watch develop with some time in the cellar. Bravo!!

  • Pop and pour. On the nose: lemon, dense slate and stone, but loads of peach and lemon, together with a touch of lees; fantastic aromatic density and heft. On the palate: lovely acidity, excellent density, lemon. Long finish. More extract than the Wehlener I had a few days ago, but the RS knocks this down by comparison to the Hengelberg I had yesterday.

  • This was gorgeous. Penetrating, precise and focused. Citric and cool, fresh herbs notes, with a lingering lip-smacking finish. This will be impressive with some cellar time.
