  • 14.5% alcohol; imported by Musk & Co, Miami, Florida; the vineyard is located in Nalda, in Rioja, at the extreme southwest of the Logron~o urban area, about 10 km from the city center; composite 45 mm cork with 5 mm and 4 mm real cork facings at the ends, maximum of 5 mm wine seepage into the cork; faint whiff of wet cork laced with fruit; foil is light to medium weight; medium to long legs, solid garnet color; nose of alcohol, tannins, coffee/chocolate, root vegetables, berries, not necessarily in that order; opened, oxygenation accelerated via Vinturi, tasted 20 minutes later at 18 degrees C (16-18 is recommended by the vintner) in a Luigi Bormioli wine glass designed for cabernet sauvignon/merlot; full bodied, sharp tannins stabbing at the the front and middle of the tongue, a dry minerality in the background running the full length of the tongue; definitely not fruit forward, more in the direction of coffee/chocolate effect, first noticed in the nose, going all the way through the long finish, which is bounded by minerals and not by bitterness; the wine has an upbeat mouthfeel which makes it suitable for pairing with red meats, or possibly with cheeses, salted nuts, and other hors d'ouvres and dessert foods; or enjoy it solo, which doesn't necessarily mean by yourself, but rather not accompanied by food
