  • 2.5h air. Notes of cherry, smoke, anise, vanilla, green olive. Round and seductive, with a creamy texture, medium-full body and plush tannins with a pleasing firmness. Cherry and raspberry on the palate, with a peppery mid-palate. A slight discordant stalkiness in the finish is the main negative.

  • garnet-ruby colour with a dark core and medium body in the glass. the nose has a thread of sweetness running through the red fruit and tobacco aromas and subtle accents of lavender. in the mouth it dry and slightly woody and with a fresh, juicy acidity. very broad in the mid-palate with slight peppery notes that come with the grippy yet polished tannins. very good persistence with balsamic hints.

a Rioja with a twist from a small producer, this should get a good decant at the moment. it can also go for a handful of years easily.

14% AbV; 96% Tempranillo, with the rest mostly Graciano and a dollop of Garnacha from pre-phylloxera vines; aged in "hybrid" oak barrels (French tops and bottoms, American staves).

  • Limited tasting notes. On first sip, overpowering woodiness. After 60-90min of slow ox, a far more balanced Rioja emerges. Went extremely well with grilled ribeye.
