Flat taste with some weird rubber aromas. Not very oaky which is positive, but that's about it. It totally lacks acid. It's drinkable and therefore the 80 points, but uninteresting and not worth the money!

The last time I'd had Hess chardonnay was before they renamed it to "Su'Skol". I remember it being much, much better then. Perhaps I just had a different palate at the time. This was nice, but entirely too one dimensional. The acid seemed entirely out of place, designed to cut through the too much oak that was there. If they had just designed it better in the first place, it wouldn't need these measure that make it so off balance. Too bad, as I was hoping I would enjoy this as much as I used to...

Served too cold, the spicy oak nose was still extremely overpowering. The wine managed to be both over-oaked and thin and watery. Acidity did at least attempt to stand up to the oak, although it failed in the end. Not exciting, interesting, or worthy of a second glass.

Tasted at the vineyard. Again, my notes are sloppy but I recall this being very oaky/creamy/buttery in comparison to the Mt. Veeder from the same vintage. This is my impression of most California Chardonnays that I have had (obviously there are exceptions). Not my personal style but it had nice balance and structure.

Oak Monster, dancing with the butter bandit, all day. Not bad if you like the over oaked california style with the secondary fermentation. Drank with a caesar salad with grilled chicken. great match.

nose: traditional california styled nose of oranges, marmelade, oak, lemon, and some butter in there too
taste: decent medium feel with oranges, lemon, butter, vanilla, and oak on the back end
overall: a solid wine that is quintessentially a california chardonnay. Nothing really stands out though and while there is balance, it's very non-descript. A nice orange attack but hollow mid-palate and a bit too much oak on the finish for my liking. Still this is a good solid chardonnay

I'm not a big white fan. This turned out to be a good wine. Buttery and fruit. Somewhat tart.

Perhaps the bottle is in decline. Very little of the original fruit was left. This wine has not improved with over time.

Have had this before and this bottle wasn't all that great. It was OK, but not one of the better examples of Su'Skol.

Not expensive for the half bottle. I remember this as being woody, but not excellent in flavour. Has Napa flavour though. Good (83.5).

Pale yellow color. Aromas of lemon, pear and oak. Pear, mineral and toasty oak tones on the palate, with a long finish. 89-90 pts.

Tasted at Hess. A nice chard. Medium body with good color concentrated white fruit, a little buttery with smooth finish.
