Still the best $6 wine I've ever had. Look, it's a simple and straight-forward bdx, but there is nothing wrong with that and sometimes, like tonight it is great. A bdx that has a bdx profile with even a some tertiary notes creeping in.

This wine is still my favoite $6 wine. With most other wines under $10, I think wine the loses a bit of its regional characteristics. This wine, however, is still very much a Bordeaux. Pleasant nose of blackberries and cedar. Fruit is present but not over-powering with a bit of earth and minerals. Nice balance.

Drinking my way through the case. A little thin, but very pleasant Bdx with a little earth and minerals. Day 2: Fruit has reappeared again and wine has more body.

My scores on 6 bottles have been between 84 and 88. Tonight the wine is a little thin and light on fruit but is more like a traditional bordeaux. Good mineraility but a little thin.

Once again, a terrific $6 bottle of wine. This might be my favorite value purchase from Garagiste. Nicely balanced "luncheon claret"-not overly extracted or fruity, but good fruit with fair tannins. I liked all of my bottles of this wine better than 2002 Grand Puy Lacoste at 5-6 times the price.

I wish I had another 6 bottles of this wine. It is a great quaffer for 6 bones. Dark purple with good translucence. No real perceived bricking. The nose has gorgeous bordeaux depth. Sweet spice box and leather. Easy and pleasing aged bordeaux. It's not overly complex but this is fantastic qpr. I tried to pick up more bottles and they are all out. Anyone have wine they don't want let me know. Thin leather seats to the taste. Reasonably long finish for the price and year. Great find Jon R.

bordeaux for $6! i enjoyed it, nothing ground breaking but better than most swill you are going to get for that price. a little dirtyness when I first popped it, cherry, fruit and tannins still evident, though the balance of good bordeaux isn't there. glad to have as an every day drinker.

Corked bottle, but beyond that was underwhelmed by the wine. Was not as cheap as others bought it for, and not as fundamentally good as other Cotes de Blaye wines I've had. Would pass next time.

Good rough country red; air softens it but also takes away precisely that which makes it interesting; v.v. hard to find a more honest and structured wine for $6; best with heartier fare

The second bottle wasn't initially as good as the first. Not as much fruit. I did immediately start eating dinner and it became a lot better. Maybe it is a good food wine. Fairly subdued but the leather taste really comes out with the steak. Very nice.
Second night this wine really took on some nice character. I think this now tastes like my first bottle. Off the charts QPR. Score raised to 87.

For $5.89 I love this wine! It is a perfect example of a medium term aged everyday Bordeaux for those looking for a tasting candidate. The fact that grapes can be grown, pressed, barrelled, bottled, shipped, distributed and drank by me for under $6/btl is simply amazing. The only part that bums me out is that an extra 50% of the cost of this wine is for shipping from WA to TX. That doesn't seem fair as I'd rather give this margin to the chateau. :(
Popped and poured. The color is a translucent amethyst with an ever so slight brown tinge. Long legs on the swirl. Nose is full of sandalwood, milk chocolate cocoa and cedar chest. It tastes just like it smells but has a very short finish. Alison commented that it is slightly watery. I think it just has a very short finish. No real follow through. All in all probably my favorite QPR wine in 2008. When you are in the mood for a traditional Bordeaux this is the one to open. I doubt it is a long term cellar candidate but have another half the bottle for tomorrow night. Jon R. do you have any more???? Great job. A real winner.
Drank the rest on night 2. It had close to the same character. It is a very nice food wine. When we got down to the bottom of the bottle there was what I thought was sediment. After poking at it for a while I believe they were wood chips. It totally took away from the experience. Downgraded the wine from an 88 to an 87 for the possibility of cheating.

Decanted for 1 hour. Nice red color with a little bricking on the rim. Blueberry on the nose, palate of dark fruits; nice acidity, fine tannins, short finish. Very good food wine. Well worth $6.

Better than it should be for $6; simple but well structured except for the short finish; far more interesting than new world wines at this price point; not for keeping

2002 was not a stellar year for Bordeaux, but I do not think it was a bad year. This wine was just fine for a simple Cotes de Blaye. The fruit was not prominent, but nor was it absent. It did not improve at all over the next day, and it may have lost a little. If you can buy this for $10-15 or so, it represents a reasonable value. Good wine for people not familiar with Bordeaux who may be interested in trying it because it is inexpensive, but is typical.
