  • In the glass , this wine is an intense ruby , with 14% alcohol tears, but it needs some air to tease out its aromas . After an hour, you are still greeted by menthol and leather, but alongside are fruity aromas of brambles, blackberries, raspberries, and cherry confit, and behind these hints smoke and liquorice. Full bodied, with medium acidity and tannins, there are refreshing flavours of cherries, plums , and cocoa. Initially a little off-putting , this wine is very drinkable and refreshing. My first time with the Bobal grape, and on this showing is a lighter alternative to the tannic, angular quality of some Spanish reds.
