uncorked the Friday evening. Nothing special about itand a lot of acidity. Bit disappointed, and only drank half a bottle. The evening after it, it was totally different. Lots of fruit, and drinking very easy. So I will wait 2more years to open te next bottle of that year.

Farven sortrød. Klar, men ikke rigtig skinnende. Ikke den store stofrigdom, selvom den er mørk. Man kan se bunden. Duften pæn åben. Noget varm frugt med chokolade og sorte oliven. Lidt metallisk. Også noget marcipan. Mange nuancer, men meget atypisk sangiovese. Smagen har også meget frugt, som jeg ikke synes er ren. Overmoden og solmættet. Stærk og mellemkoncentreret. Har masser af syre og tannin bag frugten. Pæn lang eftersmag. Ikke min stil, alt for rustik. For dyr.

I can’t decide if this bottle is slightly flawed or not. This feels prematurely aged, maybe cooked, but maybe there are just some stylistic choices at play instead. Some cherry fruit but a little dusty and tired.

A special dinner in Newport for my girlfriend Katie's birthday. Homemade tagliatelle bolognese was the perfect complement to this Sangiovese. This wine would have benefitted from a (double) decant, but sadly we hadn't the time nor opportunity at the restaurant. Luckily, the medium/strong tannins mellowed an hour or so after pouring, allowing notes of cedar and spice to come through.

Fascinating wine. The oak imparts a dried apricot character to the nose, then there’s dirty sock/armpit and rawhide, eventually a pronounced evergreen component. Midweight palate, decent texture for the price point. It’s Sangiovese made like Nebbiolo.

Il Nero can vary quite a lot from year to year. This is a particularly tasty vintage. Fruity. Nice tannins that could soften a bit more in a few years, but no complaints with them now. Easy pop-and-pour, flavorful. Great alone, but can hold its own with a robust pasta.

Dried exotic fruit on the nose. Sweet cherries and a bit of spicy plum marmalade with some dry tannins in the finish. I like it!

With that strong sense of herby character to it. Spicy, punctuated fruit. Savory, yummy, a delight on the palate really. So savory notes andrew.

New vintage! Bright cherry with an evergreen floor note to it. Tasty and easy as it goes. Very straight ahead with Sangiovese notes.
